Re: T-track spacing

I spaced my T-Track at 3" spacing. Seems to work pretty well.

Re: New/old forum member

You can do plenty with an S2. I did lots of good work with my S1/S2 hybrid. The software should mostly work with your S2. You might have issues flashing the latest GRBL to your board, but I'm not an expert on that. The CAD/CAM stuff doesn't care what machine you are using, the standard Shapeoko post...

Forum Upgrades Coming

In the next few days the forum will be upgraded to the latest version and moved to a new server.

This will cause everybody to get logged out and the forum will look a little different.

There will also be a short outage at the time of the upgrade.

Thanks for your patience.

Re: Rapid Rate

That's the "default" value. It may be different on the machine.

The best way to know for sure is to open the terminal and send $$ to get the settings and see what $110 is set to.

Re: What other hobbies do you have?

Too many hobbies - that's what I have... Woodworking - I use my S3 for this, but also have a basement full of woodworking machines. Table saw, joiner, planer, band saw, drill press... Model Railroading - just starting this one back up. I model in HO scale. There will probably be some S3 work at some...

Re: How do people handle the lack of tool radius compensatio

The CAM that you use to create the tool paths should handle the cutter compensation. If your current drawings are drawn to the actual scale you want, then you should be able to import the DXF files into a CAM program and the CAM program will handle the cutter compensation when it generates the G cod...

Re: G28 and M30 (program end) issues on Shapeoko 3

G28 is "go to pre-defined position" If you don't have that position set, then it could cause issues. The predefined position is set by sending G28.1 followed by the X Y Z coordinates. I never use G28. G91 sets incremental mode G28 G91 Z0 doesn't really make any sense to me, since it's telling it to ...

Re: Homing

https://github.com/gnea/grbl/wiki/Grbl-v1.1-Configuration $23 determines which direction the axes move during homing. Z should move first, then X and Y together. If your machine is sitting on a limit switch when you start the homing sequence you will have problems. Make sure you are away from the sw...
