Post your projects on the Wiki!
When I first started researching the ShapeOKO I wanted to see what other people were doing with it. That's the #1 thing that tells me if a device is capable of what I want it for. Unfortunately the Wiki and videos on YouTube were far and few in between. Thankfully I jumped into the forums and spent ...

Dr. Shapeoko or How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the
I've tried everything except a vacuum table and I keep coming back to holding tabs. Since I err on the side of not cutting into my waste board, even though I do use card stock between the waste board and my material I always have my holding tabs and some flashing here and there (profile cuts that di...

Re: Strange sound (test run before milling)
Are you running the Dual-Y upgrade? I remember having something like this a long time ago and believe it was a problem with wiring. I seem to remember it clicking even with other axis movement and yes, movement was all OK. Wish I could be more help, but that's somewhere to try. Edit: Trying to remem...

Re: Precision Issues
Thanks CV, with your inspiration (and the inspiration of the whole thread) I just decided to rip the gantry apart and replace all the plastic spacers with metal ones. Went as far as getting everything spaced as perfect as my (to 0.1mm) caliper would allow. I was surprised when the greeter at my home...

Re: Shapeoko Electronics enclosure for sale
It's a beauty, I just think the ShapeOKO really puts everyone in a 'why buy it when I can build it' frame of mind. I know I am, and I've already pictured how my box should be set up, I have the Arduino/GRBL mounted in a project box with a fan but haven't finalized the front and back plates yet. Thou...

Re: Precision Issues
I shot some video (well, really just a screen grab of the GCode Sender window and my Boroscope camera focused on a ruler) of the issue I've been having since day one. It's better than it has been, but I just can't get around the last part. Changing level of the table can make the issue happen going ...

Re: molex connectors & alternatives?
Maybe it's easier if you have the correct crimping tool, but I found them hideously finicky. Having had one wire pull out of it's pin after putting the metal bob in the plastic bit (yeah i've got all the terms of art right here), I resorted to increasingly desperate measures to try and clear the pi...

Re: molex connectors & alternatives?
Why not? I figure as long as you give the crimps some solder - what could go wrong? I brought home a bunch of male and female molex connectors and pins but never got around to it. I've been looking at something for a nicer external connection, like the 4 pin XLR plugs. Just haven't prettied everythi...

Re: External Reset Button for GRBL Shield
Might not be the safest, sanest or most elegant solution, but my external reset switch is hard wired into the GRBL v3 shield. I'm sure you can cross reference it if you have a different version. I too was scared of reaching in and hitting that GRBL reset every time. Standard disclaimer: Not responsi...
