Re: How to make shapeoko cheaper

Thanks ALL for the reply. First: selling V wheels are not our major business but I came across that price problem when thinking about making a different device. Now I also inquired makerslide price here in the Central Europe( EU). A multinational company based here offered material EN AW 6060 standa...

Who's design is that?
Bart Dring's design (part B17021), or the OpenBuilds ?
It is made of Delrin.

How to make shapeoko cheaper

I bought Shapeoko already several months ago( in 2012) and like the idea. Now I needed to make a similar device ( that can move in X,Y, Z axis) and started to calculate the price. When I calculated price : makerslide and 4pcs of V-wheels I had rather high price( comparing 2 SBR12UU + 2 SBR12 L300mm ...

Re: MakerSlide Europe

@baz: The project draft seems good but may I ask how many meters are in your goal?
In other words, what is your minimal run batch?

Re: MakerSlide Europe

be able to use the same die for a second run, but have you ever calculated how many buyers you would have to find out to sell the first run? You can count with European customers only and IMHO they are much more different than those U.S. people. If you wish you can check my post in this thread wher...

Re: MakerSlide Europe

Just for info of some European people, import duty for MakerSlide would be about 7.5% see TARIC code 7604 10 10.( third country is 7.5%. But it is interesting fact that, for example ,from Mexico, import duty would be zero). If you are not a firm you must also add VAT( depending on a particular count...

Re: MakerSlide Europe

@baz: the given price included two bearings. If there is a good demand I can research again the current prices of both double bearing V wheel and Makerslide. I was thinking further about dual bearing V wheel. That seems to me even bigger invention than MakerSlide. Further more I was also thinking ab...

Stepper controller and its cooling

What controller do you use and how do you cool it? I use GRBL shield controller version 3 , using heatsink ( size of that heatsink is app. 3cm x3cm) on each IC driver but it is not enough. When I run ShapeOko test( downloaded from Shapeoko wiki ), the first letter S is nice, h letter almost nice as ...

Re: MakerSlide Europe

Hi, Already in April I was also thinking about making MakerSlide and Dual bearing V wheel here in Central Europe. I was quoted, by a multinational company that makes AL profiles, the price of MakerSlide . It was about USD 8.5 per 1kg. So it makes about USD 8.5 per 1.02 meter.( quoted for 500m quanti...
