Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

One clarification on the PWR/WAR LEDs: PWR is RED when receiving power WAR is GRN when error or sometimes when at 0. It confused the hell out of me until I figured out the PWR/WAR RED/GREN is vertical. Pulsing in a sensored brushless motor is usually the hall sensors being connected out of phase. In...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

What I assume is the 'earlier' revision of this controller, with the black case, actually wanted En floating in order to enable. Take that for what it is worth, but the documentation and assumptions on these are wonky. That being said, the manual for the blue 'DDBLDV1.0' version pretty clearly state...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

For what it's worth, one I grounded out EN, mine started working. I didn't have a lot of time to look at it, so I didn't check direction. UVW, H+ H- HU HV HW, En->GND was all it took. I think, however, that I'm suspicious enough of the longer term reliability that I'm going to design a basic, high w...

Re: Kossel Mini for ShapeOko

Very cool. I've been wanting to build a Delta (as soon as I get my Ordbot up and running), so this looks like a good fit. Would other materials than melamine be suitable? HDPE? I wouldn't see why not. I actually have a couple sheets of HDPE sitting next to my desk that were originally destined for ...

Kossel Mini for ShapeOko

So, I had a ShapeOko and I wanted a Kossel Mini. Had to design one, used Autodesk Inventor. It's based on Misumi HFS3-1515 and OpenBuilds v-wheels, with the extrusion rotated 45* from normal orientation. Works pretty well, though definitely use threadlock on the t-nuts, as the delta movements can sh...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

FWIW, I got exactly the same manual as dagert. Here is a link to it on Mega, just in case the divshare link dies: https://mega.co.nz/#!8EhAlAzL!AAlP3gAiaxbH1tQSIphexJfVfh06DWm4qS9hIdrzGhU Also, I haven't been able to get mine working. It immediately lights up ERR/ALM. Any electronics savvy folks hav...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

So, for what it is worth (and anyone searching this later), I had a friend of mine who speaks Chinese translate the labels on the attached picture. If your motor is different, compare the characters on the labels.

U = Red, V = Blue, W = Black

5V = red, HA = blue, HB = green, HC = white, GND = black

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

I'm trying to get more documentation from my seller; if I get that or get mine working, I will definitely share.

Re: Is a dust shoe a must?

I've done all sorts of things to my machine since I've had it. Nothing has made more impact than adding a second Y motor (ShapeOko1 didn't have one by default) and having a dust shoe. I really can't overstate how big a quality of life difference it is, both in keeping the shop cleaner, keeping the r...

Re: 400 watt brushless spindle and controller

I actually have one of these in the mail (to replace the 'older' black cased version, that blew up). I believe that is a built-in potentiometer for speed regulation. You select using that (RESIN), an external pot (RESO), and PWM (from your main controller). I'm not sure what the wire colors on the m...
