Re: NEMA 23 motor selection?

Those probotix ones are beefy  They have a lot of torque, but also weigh quite a bit. Coming in at 4.6 lbs for dual-y seems like a lot for the gantry to be moving around, in addition to a heavier spindle like the DeWalt. The Aliexpress ones have the shaft coming out both ends, which is nice i...

Same here, worked well. Just back out when you hit resistance and clean the tap off with an old toothbrush or something.

Re: GRBL + Arduino uno clone

If you have a multimeter, it probably has a continuity testing mode that you could use to make sure the wire paths were okay without having to check each intermediate step. Just put one lead on where the wire connects to your grbl shield and the other where it connects to the stepper and if it beeps...

Re: Update for GRBL 0.8 (MOTOR LOCK)

Hey guys, I went ahead and made a video for compiling under windows using Arduino IDE. Link: http://youtu.be/bXz4oS2U8lQ HD Link (can't really see anything in SD, I should have lowered the monitor resolution before recording): http://youtu.be/bXz4oS2U8lQ?hd=1 Or at the wiki at: http://www.shapeoko.c...

Re: Poor Mans Bellows

That home made one looks very nice. Adding this to my ever increasing todo list. A "mounting plate" as he calls it for the bellows that will match up with the holes for the belt holder in the new end plates, and one for the motor plates would make it look pretty seamless. And to think I was just goi...

Re: Herbach power supply

No one's fault but my own, I should have double checked before ordering, just wanted to make sure no one else did the same thing. Thanks for the links, I'll look into it to see if they'll work.

Re: Herbach power supply

Heads up to anyone else with this psu, I ordered the parts from digikey, and the part number from the other thread for the pins seems incorrect. The pins with that number are male (for female connector) and the connector that plugs into the psu needs female pins. Also if anyone knows the correct par...

Re: Update for GRBL 0.8 (MOTOR LOCK)

@ejs, AtomSoft's method in the video is different than the one in the grbl wiki, but should work well. I personally prefer the grbl wiki method, since it uses the avr compiler that comes with the Arduino IDE, which doesn't require an install. This is mostly just my personal feelings because I had a ...
