Re: TonyB's Shapeoko Build.

There are still a ton of things I'd like to do with the machine. For now I'm just happy to have the DWP611 on, a dustshoe, steel v-wheels on my z-axis and a thick gantry. When I have time I hope to try hooking up my Solid State Relays back up to drive my spindle/vacuum when I start a process. More r...

Re: 3/8th in. Aluminum DWP611 Mounts

Any merit to the two-pronged setup you've got? Are you referring to the two little tabs that I added? Which keep the tool from being able to be rotated? I bought the Inventables 611-compatible mount and also milled some from HDPE, but installed it per the instructions (move Derlin nut up to top of ...

Re: 3/8th in. Aluminum DWP611 Mounts

I have no means of quantifying the flex in the Z axis yet and obviously I have only ever had my Dewalt 611 in HDPE mounts. From visual and haptic observation it feels as stiff as the dremel ever did in it's aluminium 'universal' mounts. That was kind of my assumption. I figured Improbable Construct...

We are planning to. I might get around to it this weekend.

Here's the color scheme:

Re: 3/8th in. Aluminum DWP611 Mounts

What was it designed in an would you consider posting? I drew it in Inkscape. I can post the file; does anyone know how to upload SVG's? (as a side note: I'm thinking of grinding off the two inner tabs, on the top bracket. That would allow the top bracket to be mounted higher, giving more Z axis de...

Oak IMT Insurance Logo

This was a present to my mom for mother's day. She works for IMT (Internation Mutual Tornado) Insurance.I cut this out of Oak; I bought a sheet of 1in. x 12 in. x 4 ft.[sp]I used a few different endmills (I believe they were 1/8th, 3/32nd, 1/16th, 1/32nd) in order to get as far into the[sp]crevices ...

3/8th in. Aluminum DWP611 Mounts

I designed some DWP611 Mounts to be cut out of 3/8 6061 Aluminum. I bought a sheet of 1 ft. x 1 ft. x 3/8 in. from a random vendor[sp]on eBay[sp]for rougly $32 to my door.[br>It took about two hours to cut one mount. I used a 1/8th carbide endmill that I bought from[sp]drillman on eBay. My specs wer...

Re: TonyB's Shapeoko Build.

Great write up. Thanks :D I agree. Wouldn't it be nice to hit start. Definitely. Recently I've gotten a little burnt out on building my machine; so I got it to a point where I'm satisfied and I'll come back after a couple projects and make things more "user friendly". This happens a lot with builds...
