Re: Aluminum license plate bracket.

What's the thickest 6061 the Shapeoko will cut? What's the thickest 6061 the Shapeoko will cut? That needs to be rephrased a bit --- ask instead "What's the longest end mill which the machine can spin well enough to make full use of the cutting length?" The answer is different for a machine with a ...

Re: TonyB's Shapeoko Build.

Hello, great mods... question, how does the spindle speed controller work? I have the same Dewalt and wasn't sure how that works with it? Thanks. I'm not sure specifically what it does to allow you to slow the DW660 down; but it allows you to adjust the speed by turning a knob. At full speed, the D...

Re: TonyB's Shapeoko Build.

I got a free desktop computer from work, which will be dedicated to this cause. I may take another shot at getting the Parallel Port Card (StarTech.com 1 Port ExpressCard Laptop Parallel Adapter Card EC1PECPS) I had bought to work: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001Q7X0W6/ref=oh_details_o04_s00_i...

Re: Needing advice on NEMA 23's (Speed vs. Torque)

I'm also open to other 170'ish oz./in. NEMA 23's, assuming they're less than the ones I've listed and are decent quality. I plan to buy three: one for the X, two for the Y, and then I'll move my one 72 oz./in. NEMA 23 (that I bought from Inventables) to my Z.

Needing advice on NEMA 23's (Speed vs. Torque)

Needing advice on NEMA 23's (Speed vs. Torque) Hey guys, I've been getting some advice from Improbable Construct through PM. He suggested that I go with 175 oz./in. NEMA 23's and he also mentioned that I would want to buy them from a reputable source like Lin Engineering. So I'm looking at the 173 o...

Re: Upgrade Parts!

Getting kind of ancy here... :(

It's been a month and a day since the blog post saying these were promised a quick turn around.

Any news?

I assume it's kind of out of your hands, but it'd be nice to get a solid date :/.

I'm getting tempted to buy some thick aluminum and cut them myself...

It's just air right now. I am at a bit of a standstill on what coolant setup to go with.

Re: Water or air coolant for your shapeoko?

Here's a good example, though it's not a Shapeoko: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kYX83fc1yRY It is a DIY CNC. I've watched quite a few of the videos on his channel: http://www.youtube.com/user/radioshack7?feature=watch This is what I have done so far with mine: http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a64/...
