Had you tried any of the open source toolpath generators, or did you just go straight to CamBam? I've been seriously considering getting Cambam but I'll wait and see what I can do with PyCAM.

I too received my kit a few days ago, finally put it together last night. It was super easy, it's pretty obvious where everything goes due to low part count and excellent board labels. A tapered hand ream also works very well for the paint. The good thing is that it looks like this paint is quite durable. Nice color too.

Autodesk's new and free 123D also has a capture feature using a standard digital camera. I've been using the David laser scanner. To get really good scans you need to put together a rotator for the laser and maybe a turntable, but now that you have a Shapeoko that shouldn't be a big deal :) I'm putt...
