Re: Z-Axis missing steps

Awesome!

What Z setup are you using? I can't get mine anywhere near that fast. I just switched to a captured TR8 stepper but I'm finding it's underpowered and doesn't really move much faster than the 8/1.25 screw I had before. It is much smoother though.

Re: Z-Axis missing steps

I had a hell of a time with missed steps when I started doing 3D work. I solved mine by tweaking accel/speed parameters. I am however not using gshield

Re: Soundproof enclosure design questions

I was mainly thinking for the length of the hose. I think the Feins are like 4m. Nice thing about them is that you can cut the hose and reattach the nozzle.

Re: Soundproof enclosure design questions

A couple things I might suggest: switch the osb to 19mm mdf, I think it's a little denser and would absorb more sound. Also the venting seems like it could use some attention. I think I would do two things differently. One would be to create a path for makeup air from the vacuum to the shapeoko cham...

Re: Collet for 5/64" Drill Bit in DWP 611

I second cvoinescu's concern about spiral drills in a tool like the DWP 611. I had zero luck trying to run 1/8" spiral bits in my 300w spindle at around 8k rpm. They just snap. Not saying you shouldn't try, but have a few on hand and be prepared for disappointment.

Re: SO2 Z-axis upgrade

Those come from IC as well but it looks like he's sold out. You could send a PM and ask when he might get more in. I've decided to go a different route and got a stepper with integral TR8-2 lead screw and a nut from Amber Spyglass. I'll have to figure a couple things out still but it should work out...

Re: Spindle - AC vs Dc - Brushed vs Brushless

I have a 300W spindle and I love it. It is slightly underpowered but the low noise makes it a decent trade off for me. If I were to get another I'd get a 400W or 600 if I could find one. One thing I've been wondering, does the brushless have a more constant torque over different speeds? They are mor...

Re: Chinese TB6560 driver green board in aluminium enclosur

I have a different TB6560 board and use PWM. Mine has(had) a relay for the spindle and I just soldered the wires for the PWM directly to the board before the relay. It works great but the relay burned out after an hour or two. I think they're not meant to take that high frequency switching. I don't ...

Re: Interlocking parts

Actually with CamBam I would leave the bit sizes alone, even check them with a micrometer if you have one. You can over/undersize using the roughing clearance parameter. Although better still would be to deal with that in CAD so the rest of the part is not effected.
