Re: Appreciation Plaque
Thanks aarvidsson, I would say homing is a must when doing 2.5D milling as you require at least two bit changes. I was thinking of going to optical switches as they may be a bit more accurate but to date I have not had a problem with accuracy and my mechanical switches so I have put off the change.

Re: Appreciation Plaque
I use Vectric Aspire to do all my modeling as well as defining my tool paths.
1/8" end mill to do my roughing pass
1/8" Ball nose for the finishing pass
90deg Vbit for all of the text and logos
1/8" end mill for the profile pass to cut out the plaque.
Used Airbrush to lay in all the color...

A source of hardwood for projects
I just wanted to share an experience I had that may help others. I have been creating some award plaques for a couple of organizations where I volunteer my time in my community and I have been looking for sources of hardwood to make said plaques from instead of Pine. I went to the local hardware sto...

Limit switches are the way to go to get the homing in place then you just issue a $H to the GRBL shield after making a tool change and you are good to go. This is the thread I used which had a good wiring diagram for mechanical limit/homing switches. http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t...

Re: Mother's Day Sign
@hoggy38 - This is my second 2.5D sign that I have created so am very new to CNC, so I have to give the credit to Vectric Aspire software which makes the workflow very easy. I have also created 5 Vcarve signs, one you can see in the project area, for friends as gifts and just got my first paying job...
