Arduino Esplora works great as a pendant

The Arduino Esplora (which I got on fire sale at Radioshack) works great as a simple jog pendant for anyone using a sender that allows for arrow key/page number jogging. The sketch can be found here: https://github.com/tachoknight/Arduino-CNC-Keyboard-Controller/blob/master/shoptbot-controller.ino T...

Advice on how to best cut this image

I'm going to a baby shower for a friend on Sunday, and I wanted to give her one of those interlocking monogram thingies. It's about 30" wide. I had to cut the letters to fit my router. My thought was 1/4" birch plywood or 1/4" red oak, and a 1/16" Freud straight double flute bit. That's the smallest...

Re: Old computers vs new ones

Update: I bought the new Surface 3 just for everyday use. It is fantastic! For cad/3d work I am sticking with my laptop for now, although I did get a Toshiba 2-in1 laptop with a Pentium M on clearance at Radioshack for a couple hundred. My intention is to eventually transition over to that.

Re: Chilipeppr crashing with large files

I can't seem to get them to upload. Here are links to the files on dropbox.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/10021436/groot.txt
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/100 ... 0manos.txt

I had changed the extension to txt for upload. They should be .nc.

Re: Chilipeppr crashing with large files

Yeah, 1/10 is overkill for a 1/16 endmill, lol.

Re: Chilipeppr crashing with large files

I'm away from the computer that has the files, but I'll post then this afternoon. The 8MB file is a 8x10 movie poster that is an illustration, not photo. The larger file is a 3d groot around 3 x 4ish with the pocket. When I initially ran the file through cambam I wasn't grasping that the stepover wa...

Re: Chilipeppr crashing with large files

So in UGS, the visualization is most likely hanging due to file size, and not some sort of error within the file itself?

Chilipeppr crashing with large files

I have tried two different files, one was around 8MB, the other around 17MB, and both cause the browser to hang. Chrome eventually gives me a "kill pages" popup, and hitting "wait" and then waiting still doesn't load my files. I'm hooked to my gshield/arduino via Pi2 then controlling from my W7 lapt...

Re: Old computers vs new ones

Disappointing that the Atom is slower than my old i5. I just tried to do a 12x18 image in bmp2cnc and it choked, partially due to memory. I guess maybe I'll try upping the RAM it its max of 8GB as a stopgap until I find something else. I'd totally go the workstation route, except that I already have...
