Re: Caleb's Shapeoko 2 #3164

Hey Mark, First of all good luck on your build. I just finished my custom ShapeOko about a month ago and its still a learning process. I am currently running a TinyG instead of the Arduino / GRBL Shield and I am feeling that its ok, but not great...like you I am also thinking of going the LinuxCNC o...

Re: tinyG Settings

Got it!! It was 35.956mm per rev. :D

Had to fine tune that number a bit, but its pretty close now...with a ruler at least. Gotta try with something more precise.

Thanks!!!

Re: tinyG Settings

Hello, i am trying to get my shapeoko calibrated. Not sure how do go about doing this...I want to figure out how much my travel is per motor revolution. This is whats happening: 1. I set a ruler down with a marker at 0mm. 2. I send a command for a 100mm move on the X-axis...its very close. 3. I send...

Re: new controller, motors, and HTD belts?

Great post! My custom built ShapeOko is fairly new, I have only used it a few times. Mine uses a TinyG. When I bought the TinyG it seemed like the way to go, but now that I am using it I feel that its just ok. I am kind of in the same boat as you... the Gecko G540 is a little bit out of the range th...

Idea for a Pen Holder

Not sure if anyone has thought of this... I wanted to figure out a way of mounting a pen to my ShapeOko, I know there are many ways of doing this...but I thought I would put the pen holder project on hold for a while. Then I had an "ah-Ha!" moment while working on something else. I used an articulat...

Re: My ShapeOko (aka Slave1)

Why I did my Z-Axis that way...well... When the ShapeOko 2 was announced i really fell in love with the idea of making my own machine...this is the first time I have ever taken on a project of this size. I did my research and found that the ShapeOko was the way to go for me, but I didn't want to wai...

My ShapeOko (aka Slave1)

Just upgraded my spindle from Dremel to DW660! Man that thing is loud. Very happy with my build, just a few more things to take care of. I need to make some work clamps, an enclosure for the TinyG, some cable management... https://plus.google.com/106645598274418716902/posts/Kc4RtmHRHb1 What do you ...

Drawing with a pen

Anyone have any ideas on how to generate GCode that fills in an outline? For example the ShapeOko Hello World example but actually have the machine fill in the text outlines. So if I export some text as an SVG or DXF, is there a way to make it so that the generated gcode is not just for the outlines...

Ah! Sorry I am new to the shop, ShapeOko is actually my first project. Graphic designer turned tinkerer, here.

Gotta look up Anthony's Law.

Re: The Rules of Shapeoko

Can we add this to the list?

When you drop a washer / nut / screw / tool....98% of the time it bounces under the work table.
