Re: Scott216 Build Log

Just finished a marathon effort squaring my Shapeoko . The angle between x-y axis was off. Finally getting it square was pretty difficult to do and a real pain - very time consuming for me. At first I tried moving the position of the y-axis belts, but as soon as I got it close to square, one drive g...

Re: Help squaring shapeoko

I got the aluminum extrusions back from my friend who squared up the ends. After putting everything back together the squareness was better, but still off. So next I put some 0.025" shims between the motor mount plates and V-grove wheels. I put shims on the two front wheels on the left motor plate a...

Re: Help squaring shapeoko

I took apart the gantry and put the aluminum extrusions on my surface plate with a machinist's square and the ends are not square. I just checked one extrusion; since it's not square, I'll have to get both machined anyway so the lengths match. I've got a guy who can true them up for me. Hopefully th...

Re: Help squaring shapeoko

Yeah, I think I'll have to start taking things apart and trying to find the root cause. I just got done reading your build log - awesome job. You're Shapeoko should be much stiffer than stock. I wish I had some of your metalworking equipment! I'd really like to get a Bridgeport, but I'd need a bigge...

Re: Help squaring shapeoko

I'm having lots of problems correcting this. The other day I spent a couple hours trying to adjust the belts, but when I got it close, the drive gear would jump a notch in the belt. I had the belts very tight. Today I spent several more hours trying to fix this by sliding the front end plates to to ...

Re: A real jog dial for shapeoko

I wonder how hard this would be to make it wireless. Replace the cables with bluetooth.

Re: Help squaring shapeoko

I went through my Shapeoko and tried to square it up the best I could. When I bring the gantry all the way to the front, the distance of the motor mount plates from the end plates is the same. I've got the two y-axis rails parallel. But it's still not cutting squarely in the x-y axis. I did a simple...

Re: Help squaring shapeoko

Yes, I read through all that. I am planning on doing the circle-square-diamond test tomorrow. But I already know the square will be off.

Help squaring shapeoko

I've got a Shapeoko 2 and I cut a 6" x 5" x 0.06" pocket hole in plywood today. I noticed it wasn't square. I measured two sides and they were 87 degrees instead of 90. I'm having trouble trying to correct this. Any suggestions?
