Re: A suddenly requested poll — internet in the shop

I don't like, nor feel comfortable with leaving my machine for more than a few minutes. I have WiFi so I can surf the Internet whilst milling. But I also run my machine from second computer which is running chilipeppr (i. e. is connected as well). I understand that you could mill and surf from the s...

Re: Redefine absolute machine coordinates

Hey Chamnit, I have seen this come up a few times. If we design so the milling happens in negative -z why would the machine live in the negative world by nature? While I am sure that there is a really good reason, I just don't understand the logic. BTW, I am not being combative, I just don't underst...

Re: Raspberry Pi g-code senders for Grbl

I firmly believe that the RPi is the best and cheapest way to control Grbl so you don't have to put your expensive Macbook Pro right next to a machine that is flinging aluminum chips or dust and may some questionable electronics wiring that could fry something expensive. Amen! I have been doing exa...

Re: Help with locating the proper term... Locking angles

Joe C, I think you are onto something... Great job! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mphesw6O_YY @ Will, exactly, It's been bugging me for a while now that I could not find the 'ratcheting knobby thing'. I have used these forever and I have been trying to find something that might put me on the right...

Help with locating the proper term... Locking angles

I am trying to find some information on how to design something. As most of us are doing this as a hobby, sometimes coming up with the correct terminology... is the hardest part in finding out how to make the part. So... here I am stuck. Can anyone tell me what you would call this kind of intersecti...

Re: CamBam Help... 3D image

If I understand you, you want Grrrroooot to be essentially coming out of the wood and after his perimeter, it then is flat out to the edges. In other words, he is the highest surface on the face of the wood. Yes? If so, you would want to do essentially an island cut. You would have your perimeter an...

Re: CamBam Help... 3D image

What are you designing in?
I design in Draftsight. So I set my depth in Cambam. There is no depth in Draftsight. Fusion is all 3D but you would be using their own CAM widget.

Re: CamBam to UGS, job stopped at m5, m30, other questions

What did UGS show in the viewer? How long did this cut take (as it stands)?

You might try ChiliPeppr, if it is time for experimenting. It's good stuff.
