Re: Inventables 500mm Makerslide

I was just thinking about this the other day, it would be nice for them to offer a few commonly used lengths.

Re: $150 off Misumi Promotion

I stayed up late just to order, I ordered seven sticks of 20mm x 40mm x 1524mm aluminum extrusion, and a few other parts to get it just above $150, I hope the discount works else I will never hear the end of it, kinda low on funds :( , I do expect to pay about $50 to 60 in shipping, I hope not much ...

Re: will1384's Shapeoko 2

When I thought I had fried my power supply I ordered a 24v, 10Amp, power supply, the one I had been using was 24v, 6.5Amp, I just today installed it. https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-sGJ5GvWHJyo/UvmXxHLhAfI/AAAAAAAADD4/z9k_zfbwdZM/s800/Shapeoko_2_019.jpg And I changed the Y-Axis output to 2Amps, I...

Re: will1384's Shapeoko 2

Since teflon is slippery, that's not the best choice for shimming. Cut up an aluminum pop can into strips and use that. Pop cans make great shim material. I tried using some aluminum cut from a pie tin, one strip was not enough, two was to much. Since teflon is slippery, that's not the best choice ...

Re: tips for tapping the MakerSlide

I started with a hand tap. Converted to battery drill and it went much better. With a good variable speed battery drill I feel you actually have more control. And motor oil isn't tapping fluid. Not sure where all the fear of power tapping comes from. But one has to do what they feel safe with. I kn...

Re: Storing and using Shapeoko in a Chicago garage?

This might be a stupid question, but now that my machine is built I need a place to put it. Unfortunately, indoors isn't an option. Anyone else storing and using their machine in a non-temperature controlled space? Am I over worrying about it? My Shapeoko 2 is stored in a welding workshop, along wi...

Re: Possible Crooked Flange Bearing?

Re guarding your Teflon tape.. I have never had luck with tape for this kind of fix, I had a similar situation with some 1/4 inch couplers and solved it by cutting a section out of a coke can. Rolled it around the 1/4 screw and and then cut it where there was a small slit. This worked out really we...

Re: Possible Crooked Flange Bearing?

I fixed my problem, the M8 threaded rod is not 8mm, its like 7.8 + or -, and when you tighten down the flexible coupler with an 8mm hole it will be off center with something smaller than 8mm, so I measured and out 22 centimeters of Teflon tape and cut with scissors, them carefully wrapped it onto t...

Re: will1384's Shapeoko 2

I had a bad Z Axis wobble, so I replaced the nuts, and added washers, no help, I then started looking for other solutions, I traced back the problem to the flexible coupler, and the wobble is dependent on how tight or lose the flexible coupler is on the M8 threaded rod, I was able to remove a lot b...
