Re: SO2 lost calibration?

Is it possible a microstepping jumper came loose? That would explain it the jerkyness and an exact 8x error (10mm comes out as 80mm).

Re: Source for Replacement THK Seals

I have shs on my gantry router which are similar to hsr but the bearings are caged. They will be expensive to replace when the time comes. I just keep a lookout on eBay for a set. I've bought just the rails on eBay for really cheap before ($10 or less each) and then find the carriage bearings again...

Re: Plasma on a Shapeoko, feasible?

My experience attempting this was that the plasma cutter could be easily controlled using the spindle on/off signals, but that without torch height control cut quality was so bad the parts were useless.

Re: Source for Replacement THK Seals

That's good advice. Thanks for the link, I don't know how that escaped my in my googling. I submitted a request. I looked into that, but the HSR and other 4 way loadable models are really expensive compared to the 2 way loadable models. What's your take on keeping the serialized bearings with the ma...

Re: Expansion packs announced

Im not sure thats accurate. Reverse engineering physical components is perfectly legal as long as it has been lawfully obtained. If theres not a patent on the rails...what leg do they have to stand on? The fact that the product was released under a noncommercial license. You may however be right th...

Re: Expansion packs announced

Now... I had read some things about Carbide possibly pursuing people who would commercially sell the extrusion, this needs to be clarified. Is this true? They'd certainly be within their rights to. The machine is released under a non-commercial license ( source ), so you're not allowed to sell the ...

Source for Replacement THK Seals

I just bought some THK HSR25 rails used on eBay. Overall, they're decent, but the side seals (or shields, depending on who you ask) are totally shot (they're about as solid as a piece of thoroughly chewed gum). Does anyone have a source for replacements? THK doesn't appear to sell them, but I can't ...

Re: SuperPID help

If it's a commercial controller, don't they recommend a particular sensor in their manual? Or at least give some specs? They do, but it's giant and hard to find. The controller can take a wide variety of inputs, so I was hoping the SuperPID style sensor was one of them because it certainly would fi...

Re: SuperPID help

Does anyone have any info/part numbers for the optical sensor? I'm after one to go with my commercial PID controller.

Re: Shapeoko 2 Replacing the X Motor?

See this thread for the SO2 docs: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=7675 If it's a NEMA23, you should be able to remove the nuts from the back, replace the motor, and put them back on, leaving the carriage assembled. If it's a NEMA17, or that method doesn't work for you, it's really ...
