Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Interesting that you didn't include the Shapeoko 3 in your comparison image: https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/003/576/539/58355b477f409bd6f060e67f786ad6ea_original.png?v=1428461464&w=700&h=&fit=max&auto=format&lossless=true&s=d38f5ef8e028c02508173ae4351ebbb2 I thought about it long and hard and was...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Hey everyone, I was test fitting beta kit parts (for the Routakit HD) today before giving the final ok for shipping. I decided to post some photos of the z-axis assemblies, they came out really nice. http://i214.photobucket.com/albums/cc26/cheshire03/Routakit%20HD%20z-axis%20assembly%201.jpg http://...

Re: OpenBuilds' new C-Beam. Your thoughts?

You know, maybe I lack imagination but I don't know what I'd use that beam for. I mean the example they used looks like it could make for a good z-axis setup for a small light duty CNC, but as someone else said the spindle would be kind of far away from the gantry which is something you don't want, ...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Hey Louis, What is the z-axis travel on the Routakit SD and HD? Any thoughts on making these available separately? I ask as the strong OX and other open source builds rely on pre-manufactured z-axis solutions, and their really aren't many out there. Also, mind sharing some details on the belt tensi...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Hey everyone, been super busy but I have a small update. The Routakit SD lives and is going through a bunch of test runs right now. So far it's living up to expectations, some minor design tweaks to the spindle mounting plate and end plates are in order but overall everything is good. :) http://i214...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

I have been following this for a while... I must say your machine look really HD. ;) I came across this, on the openbuilds forum - http://openbuilds.com/threads/strong-ox.914/ Rack and gear for a drive system. Since I am nowhere near a position to have an opinion - what are the pro and cons of a ra...
