Re: Gecko 540 upgrade

Thanks. They guys over http://www.shop.cncdrive.com/index.php?productID=310 have replied me, saying that product (UC100-parallel->usb converter) works with G540 and many of their customers are using it. So this is an option to consider. The only thing that gets me thinking is the price. For around 1...

Re: Gecko 540 upgrade

I've send them email asking if it works with G540, will get back when they reply.
Any thoughts on this one?
Would you go with smooth stepper rather than this?

Re: Gecko 540 upgrade

I'm really confused now. I've been reading this http://www.cnczone.com/forums/joes-cnc-model-2006-a/112017-mach-3-g540-pci-card.html No parallel card works with geckog540 on a Win7 64bit, which I use. So, if no usb>parallel works either that means I'm stuck with smooth stepper? I mean the only issue...

Re: Gecko G540 Upgrade

Hey,

@danimal, are you using parallel cable or any other way of connecting (ethernet smooth stepper / usb->parallel converter) gecko540 to the pc?
I'm about to order the g540 and smooth steppers is a bit pricey at the moment.
Any advice about the subject would be really helpfu!

thanks

Re: Gecko 540 upgrade

I'm really close to ordering my Gecko G540. Could someone help me with selecting a parallel port card for my PC that would work with the GEcko g540? Or should I get a usb->parallel converter? Something like this: (http://cnc-specialty-store.com/rs232-cables/rs232-usb-to-serial-port-converter-adapter...

Re: Gecko 540 upgrade

LouisV was kind enough to answer me some of the questions. I'm posting them here so somebody else could have some use out of it. 1. My first concern is the power supply. Which one to choose? (I'm using 4x Nema 17 motors that came in the kit) He uses 320w 48 volt power supply and uses Nema 23 motors....

Gecko 540 upgrade

Hi to all! I own a SO2 full kit. I've recently made smaller upgrades to it (limit switches, alu extrusion table, new spindle holder, stronger x-axis). I'm pretty happy with the mechanical upgrades and now thinking about new electronics for my machine. I have my eye on Gecko 540 which seems as far th...

Re: Limit switches - having some issues

Thank you all for your help! Now it works! To be honest I'm not completely sure what exactly was the reason, 'cus I've changed many things. Amongst them most probable being one of the switches was on NC and the rest on NO. When I've put all of them on NO it started working as it should. Btw. thanks ...
