Re: Pictures of finished machines
All, I'm in the process of building a gallery page that shows off a collection of our finished (assembled) machines. If you are interested in having your machine displayed, please reply with the picture attached (min resolution 800x600), and a (brief) description of your setup. This is open to both...

Re: 800W Water-Cooled Spindle Running on 110V
I used the following settings, which I cribbed from this post: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1912 Bit: .125" two-flute end-mill Depth: 0.2mm per pass Spindle: 10,000 RPM Feed Rate: 500 Lots of WD-40... Cutting aluminum is kind of messy. It's a really awesome capability, but I ca...

Re: Gecko G540 Upgrade
How many axis can the grbl handle? I thought it was only 3-4 as well.
Yeah the g540 should be alright for the shapeoko, was just sharing my issues. Microstepping is not adjustable on the g540.

Re: Gecko G540 Upgrade
I believe mach3 now has a plugin for 3d printing. One issue I see is if you are using a shapeoko as a base you'll be utilizing all 4 stepper drivers the g540 offers out of the box, and correct me if I'm wrong but the extruder requires a stepper motor as well which means you'll have to setup a second...

Re: Vote for your favorite ShapeOko spindle solution!
Took the spindle off yesterday to add some new belt anchors.. The old setup didn't result in very tight belts, going to check runout when the spindles back on. It appears to be losing x steps, I'd assume because the x has half the power the y does. I'll prob slow it down regardless of what happens t...

I run a g540 on my mill and use it with that relay board. Makes wiring a lot simpler and gives you 2 relays.

HF cutout tool is cutting alum plate like a champ. .025 doc at 30ipm with an 1/8 carbide altin endmill. 6061 t6 plate After I took some measurements on accuracy it was less than desirable. Going to slow it down when i get a dust shoe to keep the shop clean of alum chips. I love the HF spindle though.

What were your speeds, feeds and DOC for the 6061?
Spindle looks nice, tempted to grab one myself.

Re: All Aluminum bed with T-Slots
Did you know about the Reddit $150 discount? I didn't know they carried this, I may order some when I upgrade my Shapeoko. Thanks! reddit discount? Do share I've actually been toying with the idea of a nice tslot table and this material should do the trick. I don't like the MDF mounting solutions a...
