Re: NKT's plasma plan

Ah, that's annoying, but I suspect superDor had no more idea about that than I did when he turned up at the post office.

I think he has sold it elsewhere now.

However, our hackspace has now relocated to better suited and cheaper premises so we can likely afford to buy a new unit in the next month or two.

Updates as they happen!

Impressive how someone drew a single primative and it got into the list. A cube, a cylinder, a squat cube, the list is endless!

Re: Dewalt Dw660 Brushes Worn?

Really? That's maybe pretty poor. That's just cosmetic. Unless they were thinking that you'd dropped it and broken the plastic, damaging it, which of course wouldn't be covered. Ah well, the life of a modder! It's when they try and sell you extra warranty cover on the item, and you explain that you ...

Re: Shipping

Next time you've got a load of wood pallets left over, cut a few into wooden staves and paint them white. Give them to her, as 'fencing supplies'.

Re: Arc and circular motion speed

The fastest speed you can get can likely be really increased by dropping the microstepping down further, to say 4x. That would be a bit crude for a mill, but for a spraygun I doubt you will notice anything.

Re: DC Motor Controller Board for Spindle

Very odd that it will take such a range of inputs. Most stuff is AC or DC, very rarely both, and if it does take both it takes a lower AC voltage than DC. You could probably stick a rectifier across the mains input so you feed it a slightly wonky DC at about half the AC voltage - add a capacitor fro...

Re: How big are the things you're making?

That's my plan for the next one. Build it so it'll handle a quarter sheet of steel. Since you can only buy it in full sheets.
