Re: Beginners guide to setting up bCNC (+ autoleveling)
Thanks for the input, guys. I can see a little more clearly why people are fond of open-source software (the discussions, collaboration, etc), but it is still quite new to me (I'm more of a "plug and play" type of computer user). I don't mind beta-testing things and providing input, so I will take a...

Re: Beginners guide to setting up bCNC (+ autoleveling)
In the interest of showing the best practice for the use of Python, would someone be kind enough to do a mini-tutorial (i.e handholding exercise) on how to best install Python and how to place bCNC in the best location. I'm not sure if that involves editing the .bat file, but if so, that would be gr...

Re: Beginners guide to setting up bCNC (+ autoleveling)
I have Windows 7, and I am wondering if should install Python 2.7.0? When I go to download 2.7.0, the Python website suggests that I really install 2.7.10, since the 2.7.0 version is over 5 years old. Just install the latest available Python 2.7.x for your platform. The versions given are what bCNC...

Re: GrblGru = Free 3D-Simulation for ShapeOko2
I want to take the time to thank GrblGru for his work on this software, and to apologize if I was a little too harsh: I am usually more than willing to help someone out, but I was in a bit of a hurry to find a solution (probing/autolevel-type capability) and was really hoping I had found the solutio...

Beginners guide to setting up bCNC (+ autoleveling)
Intro I am writing this tutorial since I had a hard time getting bCNC up and running, and figured that it might help anybody who is sitting on the fence (about whether or not they should try it out). Some background: I have been using my SO2 for the last 12 months or so, and I've become somewhat pr...

Re: GrblGru = Free 3D-Simulation for ShapeOko2
1) My "normal" method of using a CNC machine (X 0 at left, Y 0 at bottom of machine) is NOT the way that GrblGru is designed. I vaguely remember seeing that somewhere, and it should have been more apparent, but everything that I was doing previously (moving gantry around, etc) seemed normally. Fair...

Re: GrblGru = Free 3D-Simulation for ShapeOko2
Ok, I figured out a few things (from my initial post above): 1) My "normal" method of using a CNC machine (X 0 at left, Y 0 at bottom of machine) is NOT the way that GrblGru is designed. I vaguely remember seeing that somewhere, and it should have been more apparent, but everything that I was doing ...

Re: GrblGru = Free 3D-Simulation for ShapeOko2
[I don't know if this is best place to put issues up, but there doesn't really seem to be anywhere else to do it, so...] I started using GrblGru yesterday, since I am very interested in using the probing functionality in GRBL. I tried out ChilliPeppr, but due to wireless connectivity issues [in my s...

Re: I found an excellent and inexpensive V bit
Can anyone comment on the longevity of these bits (the replacement blades, that is). I have been contemplating buying a complete CNC signmaking set by Amana, either the 8 piece set ( here ) or the 18 piece set ( here ). The 8 piece set is more palatable (from a hobbyist perspective), but I really am...

Re: Buy a Laser Head designed specifically for the Shapeoko
Has anybody heard anything about being able to purchase this (outside of the Kickstarter)? I sent an inquiry from the website, but haven't heard back, and read through their forum, but nothing jumps out at me. The only recent news (that interested me) was that somebody built a bracket to attack the ...
