Re: How to unlock the Z-axis stepper motor?

DO NOT put a switch on the wire to the motor! Connecting and disconnecting the load while the power will fry the driver chip! They are well protected against shorts and over-current and overheating, but not against this. If the goal is to fine tune the Z, wouldn't putting a switch on the "stepper e...

Re: upgrade idea

Where was it that I saw a stepper motor used with an ACME screw for a ballscrew-like implementation of a stepper motor? Was that you IC?

If so, I think that is an upgrade that should be considered rather than rack and pinion.

Re: Problem running Universal G-code Sender under Mac OS X Y

HI, I'm brand new to the Shapeoko 2 project, and am currently building the kit. I've run into a problem trying to use Universal G-code Sender to test the stepper motors. Setup: Mac OS: 10.10 (Yosemite) Java: V8 Update 25 (1.8.0_25-b17) - did the sudo commands for /var/lock. - typed the following co...

Re: Premature order

I'm certainly not in the know, but it could be a 3D printer, or a Laser Cutter, or attachments/retrofit for the shapeoko. Not necessarily version 3.0. Here is a link to the tweet: https://twitter.com/Inventables/status/519536224168452096 We'll find out tomorrow, but I'd guess the word "big" is not ...

Re: Using Shapeoko for monograms?

I have created several 3 letter monograms out of 1/4" plywood sheets sold at big box stores. The SO2 has no problem cutting them at reasonable speeds, but as it was mentioned above, the tightest corners you will git are the radius of the bit. Considering the scale in which you are working, I don't t...

Re: Error: Invalid Statement from Laser Code

Can you look at the command table tab to find which one is generating the error?

My guess is the "G01 F0.5000" line.

What version of grbl?

Re: grbl 0.9 settings

I'm on a mobile so a bit more terse than normal.

Please read the "installing grbl on arduino" section on the wiki.
