bCNC Support Kudos

I've been using bCNC primarily for the Auto Leveling feature. I found I had to switch between the Control tab (for jogging the router) and the Probe tab (doing the auto level process) a lot. Put in a request to add the jogging interface into the Auto Level tab. Received back a suggestion from Vasili...

Re: Z Zero for VCarving

Were you positive that your surface was absolutely, positively, for sure, for sure, flat? Flat after is was clamped/taped/suctioned into your machine?

Engraving on surfaces that vary even a couple of millimeters from the lowest to highest point really hurts nice engraving jobs.

Re: VCarved Text - Visibility

In general, woods where the end grain stains darker than the face wood are good choice for simple engraving contrast. Engraving into Alder then staining will make the engraving pop. Red Oak is OK. Maple isn't that good. If you want a bigger challenge, try Vcarve inlay, http://www.vectric.com/support...

Signing projects

Do you sign completed projects?

How?

What text? Name, Project Name/Title, serial number, date, project materials (wood type), other good stuff?

Newbee and Fusion 360

Holy oleo Batman, Fusion 360 has turned my brain into butter! I used EnRoute for 5 years, then the past 4 years I've been using Vectric Aspire so I'm not a total newbee. After spending 6 hours watching videos, Fusion 360 has just overwhelmed me and I really haven't gone deep into the CAM section. So...

Auto Leveling - Which Software Available

I know bCNC and Chilipeppr have auto leveling capabilities. GOKO was also listed with auto leveling on the wiki page, http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... _/_Control, but I've never used it.

Any other tools have this capability? Target: Shapeoko 3.

Re: Joining the Club

First of all, Welcome. The answer to "How long will this milling take?" is usually answered by your CAM tool. The CAM tool simulates the milling process and estimates the time required. Most of these estimates are fairly accurate. No matter how long the milling, you are required to be close at hand....

Re: New Hand Held CNC Machine

What makes this tool interesting is the ability to CNC cut a 4x8 sheet of plywood. It's not all that accurate at 0.01". With a small router it will not be that fast cutting thru thick material. But I can design an eight foot long part and cut it out with very good quality. No lofting the design to t...

New Hand Held CNC Machine

You've probably seen this machine before, but now you can buy it. Well at least order it for delivery in about a month. Check it out: https://shapertools.com/ Disclaimer: I have nothing to do with this company and I'm certainly not chucking my SO3 out the window for this thing. The "Shaper" tool sho...
