Thanks for the info.

5 Watt Laser for SO3??

Either I'm mis-remembering or I have lost the reference that I thought I'd saved or I'm just going crazy. :D

I thought is was a kit from J-Tech.

Maker Faire NY - 2016

I may have a chance of attending the Maker Faire in NYC Oct. 1, 2016. I've never attended a maker faire as I live in a "fly over" state. I know a big one is in San Francisco. Web site lacks information about the 2016 faire and routinely links to the S.F. faire. Any thoughts on the NYC faire? Bob, li...

Vectric Aspire vs. Vcarve Pro

I've been lucky enough to be using Vectric Aspire on my SO3 projects. I may be moving to Vcarve Pro. Is the SO3 post processor in Aspire the same as Vcarve Pro?

Any thoughts on the differences between the two products?

Re: Z axis Soft Limit - Any experiences?

I believe that it uses the EEPROM, which one is cautioned against writing to repetitively. Asking that it not would be an interesting feature request. Did a search for EEPROM writing limits. Seems like the most common number of writes is 100,000 times. I plan to reset the Z axis soft limit when I c...

Z axis Soft Limit - Any experiences?

Anybody use this? Any issue of resetting the Grbl variable $132 every time a new bit is installed? I may be going into a teaching mode and want to protect the machine. Limit switches are installed and effective. BUT, the router can still be plunged thru the sacrifice board into the waste board and t...

Re: V-Carve inlay with thin stock-possible?

Would it be cheating to do a normal thick stock inlay, flip it over, and surface it down? I suppose you could start with two boards that are say 8mm thick. V-carve the pocket and inlay boards as if each was 4mm thick. Then spend time planing/sanding both sides to the desired thickness. Hadn't thoug...

I'm actually thinking about 4mm thick for the pocket wood. The inlay can be much thicker as most of it gets removed.

V-Carve inlay with thin stock-possible?

Has anybody done v-carve inlay with thin stock, say 4mm thick? I've done v-carve inlay with 1/2", 12mm, thick stock and been fairly successful.

Seeking advice: do it or run screaming in the other direction?
