Construction Ideas
Has anyone thought of using this combination of things to make a ShapeOko- like machine? This just really captures my imagination. Start with this type of linear shafting rail. LinearShaftingRail.jpg Add round gear racks. RoundGearRack.jpg And use open style pillow blocks for attaching the rest. Ope...

Re: AutoDesk Inventor resources
This appears to be strictly an add-in for Inventor and Autodesk products (which are high priced, good quality Cad/Cam systems.)

Re: SO3 Z axis Upgrade discussion
Personally, I don't care for the idea that it will fall down if not supported. Seems to drop the ball when thinking about the KISS principle. Don't have any better ideas at this time though. Will certainly speak up if I come up with something.

Re: 1.2mm Slot bits
Honestly, no. I have been having some heart trouble and haven't started this up for over 2 months. Not serious troubles, but time consuming with all the doctor visits, etc. Also it is summer here and I have no extra time for working inside. The farm needs more of my time and so do the grandkids.

Do you have any pictures or descriptions? Probably would sell more if we knew what you are trying to sell.

Re: Ultimaker Cura for CNC milling
Yes that appears to be so. I only created things directly in Fusion360. As an old Autodesk user, I couldn't find anything that would deal with a *.stl file, so I never did any in that way.

Re: Ultimaker Cura for CNC milling
If you are just a hobbyist, (not making lots of money from this) Fusion 360 is free. I actually called their help desk and got this confirmed. They also say it on their website. Quite a nice program and similar to the Autodesk Inventor I use daily at work.

That is some beautiful work. Very nice. I would have thought that the wood would all be black on the surface from the laser.

Re: Considering adding a build log
That would be really cool. I am interested in this. What program do you use to generate the drawing for the gears themselves? That is what I am really having a hard time finding. I am using Fusion 360, so could probably import almost anything from a current cad system.
Thanks, Smoky Rick
