help with G53 not working
My machine is set up with conventional homing switches in the back-upper-right, so that all valid machine coordinates are negative. I always home the machine before starting a job. I am trying to run a job where the first MOP is to spiral-drill a bunch of holes. The next MOP is supposed to send the ...

Re: Looks like the Shapeoko 2 has been discontinued
take a look at the OX or Charging OX over at openbuilds. you have to source some components yourself but it's more "now" than the shapeoko at the moment.BubbaDan wrote:I want it now. Any suggestions?

Re: Good deal on a 3D Printer
Is anybody using the Autodesk 1-2-3Catch process yet? I just tried this. I was very impressed with the quality achieved by simply taking a bunch of photos of an object. Probably could have done even better if I used more photos. I just did the minimum. This was printed on the Makerbot Replicator 2X...

Re: What do you use to clean your slide wheels?
not only will it make them eventually bind if left unchecked, but could cause wandering (straight lines not straight) and even breakage of the cutter. My solution is a bellows on the X axis and dust guards on Y. Z is left open but doesn't seem to be as much of a problem. http://www.youtube.com/watch...

Re: Shapeoko 2 inspired custom build
AFK66, any problems getting the 4 sets of wheels on the Z axis to all touch the rail with equal pressure? I'm about to add a 3rd (middle) set to my SO2 Z axis. I have a friend building an OX, he is having trouble getting the 3rd wheel to even make contact with the rail. I made the plate for him, and...

Re: Build Log for #6971
that's exactly what I wanted to know (and more), thanks!
Did you have to lengthen the horizontal slots in the two carriage plates to fit the 3rd rail between the other two?

Re: Build Log for #6971
Damin69, do you have a parts list (spacers, etc) for what is required to add the 3rd rail in-between the 2 X-axis makerslides? Did you have to shim anything or cut any spacers down? The biggest issue on my machine currently is twist around the X axis, so I would like to do something like this. I had...

Re: Aluminum spindle mounts for Makita RT0701c
I don't have enough aluminum to make any more, and they are time consuming... Not to mention drilling the holes was "interesting" since I don't have a drill press -- I used the shapeoko. Spiral milling works ok but the clamp hole needed a real drill bit due to reach. Problem is, the spindle goes WAY...
