There should be Grbl postprocessors in the list that work with the Shapeoko. Inches or mm shouldn't matter, since it includes the relevant unit code in the output.
If your cuts are too deep, it's possible you need to recalibrate Grbl's z axis settings.

Suckit Dust Boot for Shapeoko 3
The Kickstarter campaign for the Shapeoko 3 version of the Suckit Dust Boot is finally live! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXwMallF2uA I'm not involved with the project, but I did just back it. A lot of people had good things to say about the Shapeoko 2/Xcarve version, and I really like the idea o...

Re: Best Zero'ing Method for MeshCAM and 2 Sided Machining
I think it's best to zero along the centerline when doing such flipping. I've always been faintly surprised that the default for this isn't a paired jig w/ V-shaped inset at top, and a hole drilled just above the tip of the V (to verify the placement of the endmill along the centerline), and a matc...

Re: Easy way to tension the Z belt
Some reason my belt was already tight with the stepper in the lowest position. I had to loosen the two 15mm spacers to gain enough slack to get the belt over the top pulley. Once everything was routed correctly, I tightened those two spacers which tensioned the belt without having to raise the step...

Re: S03 Fire
It's actually kind of nice to see just how much time there was between when things first went wrong, to when the smoke started, to when the actual fire started. If the operator had been present they could have easily cut the power the second the clamp failed and only been out a piece of wood.

I don't know about the mounting, but Elaire sells a 1/8" collet for Makita routers. Check if your model number is on there.
