Getting the Z-axis belt drive and getting your spindle/router mounted as close as possible would help bring some of that Y travel back inside the frame. Drawbacks... You'll have to be conscious of the rigidity of the machine, there's plenty of methods to help with this though. You'll need proper wir...

Re: Belt Drive NEMA 23 Z axis kit

Awesome, just didn't want to get caught with the pants down, I'm international now, so shipping is $24, yikes.
If only someone else was local so we could share the cost.

Thanks though, really appreciate the time taken to sort my question out.

Re: Belt Drive NEMA 23 Z axis kit

Sorry about that, I mean...
To get having z-axis belt drive with a Nema 23, if I already have the Acme screw, Nema 23 and a stock shapeoko2, do I need anything that was included with the direct drive kit?

Re: Belt Drive NEMA 23 Z axis kit

Any parts needed from the "direct drive nema 23 z-axis kit" if going from stock so2+acme upgrade?

As in can I skip straight to a nema 23 with this kit.

Re: WTB: Bracket for Makita RT0701 in AUS

How'd that mount turn out?

I'm also in Aus, and the lack of cylinder shaped routers...is disappointing.

Using the Makita with a 3D printed mount, but I need an upgrade, badly.

Re: Makita plus Z-axis belt drive yet?

I'd love to know how much Y you can get back with that and a mount change.

I'd have to change how I have my drag chain hooked up with it, but I guess it'd be worth it for the Y and the warm fuzzy feeling of the router being closer with its BFF, gantry.

Any reason not to do the dust boot from 3/8" acrylic like the one's IC sells?
