Re: No response to commands from Universal G-code Sender

If you ran the "Blink" program, then you've overwritten grbl ... Note, just in case you have not overwritten grbl in Arduino and want to try the connection again: grbl 0.8c uses 9600 baud rate gbls 0.9g uses 115200 baud rate Easiest would be to just reflash the program: https://github.com/grbl/grbl/...

Re: Solved a problem, love the results

Generally what bit do these engravers use? Changing out the bit is much much easier than unmounting a spindle and mounting another spindle ...

Re: How do you do tool changes?

Homing switches are on the way, in the meantime I'll send the spindle home and lock steppers in place, jog the z-axis up, change the bit, jog the z-axis back down and run the 2nd job.

Thanks all!

Caesar.

Re: Cambam vs meshcam

Caesar, If I generate a 2.5D part in Inkscape, export as DXF and import that into Meshcam will it be difficult to process? I assumed if makercam could do it, then Cambam and Meshcam coil do it also. I didn't have a chance to try DXF with MeshCam, it works well with STL during my trial. FYI, the tri...

Re: Shapeoko 2 #7722

With small lettering you'd need to use a small bit to pocket out the insides.

But I actually do as you did it for small lettering.

Re: How do you do tool changes?

One thought is to return to home, change the bit, adjust the height of the bit using the paper gauge method, then start the 2nd job.

I'd still like to hear other options though.

How do you do tool changes?

Hi,

I'm wanting to use 2 bits on a job.

I can generate gcode for 2 parts separately and conceivably run the 1st job, change the bit, then run the 2nd job.

But can't figure out how to change the bit.

How have you done it?

Thanks, Caesar.

Re: Cambam vs meshcam

Meshcam is really good for 3D milling, but not for 2.5D, it was difficult for me to make it do 2.5D. I found CamBam really easy to use for 2.5D, but not for 3D. Later when I do 3D I'll definitely go with MeshCam. Then again I'm a real green newbie ... my skills might have something to do with MeshCa...

Re: Machine can't handle cutting

Replacements are free. I'd rather just get a replacement pulley than use a permanent fix like superglue.
