Great project, great result! :) Did you use any coolant while milling it? Oil, or similar? -- PollyMotion When had started with a little wd 40 made about 2 passes then I stopped using it. I have to stop about 20 min cause realized I had forgotten to put a tab in on the chunck of alum in the center ...

For awhile now I have been wanting to make new mounts for my makita. I wanted to move my router out away from the gantry just a little bit to give me a little more clearance for a new dust shoe. I also knew I wanted to make them out of aluminum. So I have been watching and reading on speeds and bits...

There was a whole pallet.. I could have scored a piece that was like 3/4" thick and that was like 2'x3' figured it was overkill for my needs at this time.

Stopped by scrap yard. I want to make new mounts for my Router so I stopped by the scrap yard today. I have been looking for 1/2" thick alum for awhile and cheapest I found was for 2 pieces 4"x10" for like 20 bucks. Well at the scrap yard I found a few pieces that are like 4-5" wide and around 15" l...

Right now I am using Art Foam. But I am working on redesigning my dust shoe and when I redo it I am going with 2 inch brush. The art foam is just to flimsy and my dust collection system keeps sucking it in.

I on my Gantry to get rid of the twist in the gantry I bolted a 20x40 extrustion between the 2 maker slides.
