Re: Another Red Shapeoko

So would that laser be powerful enough to do acrylic engraving? Been thinking about a laser engraver, but if that works....why do anything separate?

Re: 3d printer upgrade

DJ,

I added your ideas to the wiki - http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/ ... ting_Mach3

Edward, any chance of getting it added to the upgrades in the sidebar, or is that strictly for proven upgrades?

Re: 3d printer upgrade

You don't.. I should have clarified. The Extruder motor that dispenses the filament would be controlled by either your existing controller (a 4th axis) or a separate one. The TB6560 I have will have X,Y,Z and A axis - A will be used to control the extruder motor. The GenxLab unit is there to contro...

Re: 3d printer upgrade

I am on a similar path (have not got the ShapeOko yet). I'm planning on using Mach3 along with the GnexLab extruder controller and the MBE extruder . I have been following this thread . BTW, I won't be using the Arduino / grbrSheild approach. Instead, I have a Chinese controller on order from Ebay....

Re: Verify that PSU will work with standard setup.

Thanks. I thought I remembered reading it would work, just couldn't remember why it would.

Re: Noob - Confusion about motor drivers

These simply won't support Mach3. My Mach3 electronics stack on order is: 5 Axis TB6560 Controller with Drivers (Available from ebay for about 80 USD) 24V 15A power supply unit 3X NEMA 23s from phidgets 1x NEMA 17 from phidgets It will be fully Mach3 compatible, and I'm already starting to configure...

Re: Build Log...gonna be a journey!

Well, got my custom plates in (all plates), though the .25 stainless motor plates are going to have to wait for hard coated shapeoko rails to become available. The end plates lock in nicely. I have my 5 axis TB6560 based CNC controller on the way, along with a 24V 15A PSU, 3X NEMA 23s from phidgets,...

Re: Verify that PSU will work with standard setup.

As an aside, and maybe because I dont understand....those 24V power supplies will work with these motors?

Does any one have a NEMA 24 upgrade for dummies?

Does anyone have a clear BOM/PL for the NEMA 24 upgrade for the X and Y axis, with dual motors on the Y axis? Perferably just from McMaster and Invetables? Got a controller, power supply and 3x NEMA 24s and a NEMA 17 on the way to the house now. Want to get the remaining stuff to complete my convers...

Re: Custom Plates

If you want to get it hardcoated, I think the anodizer will strip the pre-existing anodization (you should warn them, though). But, as Cat says, hardcoating is not DIY. It may be that the most extensive discussion of this (as far as makerslide is concerned) is in Bart's "plasma cutter" thread at th...
