Re: Waste Board Dimensions

What is the advantage of having a single waste board vs the 2 halves supplied with the stock SO3?
Is there any functional difference other than personal preference?
I know the reason for 2 parts is an advantage for the packaging/shipping.

Re: Shapeoko 3 in the wild

It is pretty straight forward to mod the DWP611 for the SuperPID. I got the instructions and photos from them. I tried to no avail to upload the pics here and it wouldn't work. What he says about just connect two wires, paint and drill a hole is correct. I'm terrible at this kind of stuff but when m...

Re: How to prepare for Shapeoko 3 - New to CNC

Curious to know if people who have a Super PID think its worth it? The cost, the performance, the extra little effort to rig it up, ease of use... Don't get me wrong, cracking the router case and getting to wire something up along with an LED display adds to the fun. Just wondering if its worth it o...

Re: How to prepare for Shapeoko 3 - New to CNC

I bought a DWP611 (the complete unit) vs the DNP611 (spindle only replacement) for less than $100 on Amazon a month ago. Wonder why the replacement unit cost more than the original unit that has a lifter and base plate?

Re: Vote for your favorite ShapeOko spindle solution!

Guess its all in the language, I got the sense (incorrectly) that the Quiet Cut spindle was somehow superior to the ones from China. Perhaps that's something to do with buying it from Inventables and if something goes wrong with it - you deal with Inventables vs some mfr in China that may or may not...

Re: Easel on Shapeoko 3, Yes or No

well, we will find out soon-ish when the pre-Jan 10 SO3 orders get to people who can test it out. Unless the guys at Shapeoko have tested it.

Re: How to prepare for Shapeoko 3 - New to CNC

Electrical prep question: I'll be plugging in the SO3 and DWP611 into a power strip that will go into an outlet wired to a 15A breaker. I know the DWP is 7A and the SO3 will have a 10A power supply. So my rudimentary math says 17A total. Ahem. Will the SO3 use all 10A of the power supply? It will po...

Re: What is the ShapeOko 3 surprise?

This sounds like a cool upgrade and I'm thrilled they went for more power and easier wiring but I don't know enough to know HOW/WHY its awesome.
Can the experts weigh in for us NOOBs?

Re: Shapeoko 3 vs X-Carve?

to me, the SO3 looks beefier and can handle a wider range of tasks. Base SO3 has larger working footprint which has a big appeal to me. There are some nice touches about the X-Carve that I like: limit switch pre-drills & kit, fewer (presumably) parts based on pics, lower height profile, pre-mounts f...
