Such is the way of things.

I heard there's a SO4 being announced next month...

Re: Shapeoko and DLP

But (just thinking out loud here) you would be restricted as to where you had a DLP printer as sun light might be able to cure it? Leave it near a window and find that you have a solid block of resin? Heh. Perhaps not.. Definitely not. The yellow/amber/orange cover you see on most of these printers...

Sorry.. My limit on electronics maxes out at "look at all the wires and see if they're connected."

I've never heard of this (which does not at all mean it does not exist).

What sort of feed rate do you normally print at?

Re: Extruder overheating --- causes?

Looking back, it seems as if this might be the chain of events: It would be nicer if it was a firmware problem but this sounds like an electrical problem. Also, I would look for shorts instead of things related to thermal conductivity. Like, if you were to picture a graph of the temperature, a flak...

Re: Extruder overheating --- causes?

Fan --- to cool extruder I wouldn't bother, unless it's trivially easy or you have another reason to add a fan. You've got some (quite serious?) problem with the machine that is not due to it not having a fan.. Adding a fan might lessen the symptom but the problem will still be there. I like cvoine...

Re: Extruder overheating --- causes?

Fans are usually used to cool down freshly-extruded PLA. It may help ABS but PLA is the one that really benefits from it. It's also used to cool the area right above the extruder hot zone so heat doesn't move up the system - if it does, PLA will soften and form a plug and block the whole thing, whic...

Re: Extruder overheating --- causes?

If I had to guess, I'd guess it's not reading the correct temperature or you told the slicer to use the wrong temperature.

Does it say it's getting really hot or just behave like it?

M104 and M109 gcodes look correct in the file you're printing?
