Re: Completed My 3D Printed PLA SO3 Drag Chain Brackets

Yes, 2m was definitely more than enough. I am still debating whether I want to make brackets to run a chain from the Z-carriage to the router. On one hand, the router power cable only touches the SO3 when the Z-carriage is all the way right and down. On the other hand. It would look complete as far ...

Re: S3 Electronics Enclosure

Maybe this would be a good time to use that putty / wax to hold the 1/8 inch wall still while it is being milled. Edit: Auto correct. Second edit: 0) Clamp the part normally around the outer edges. 1) Machine a slot in the center of the large piece in the middle. 2) Clamp the piece from the middle. ...

Re: Completed My 3D Printed PLA SO3 Drag Chain Brackets

Printed a set of the brackets in silver and they look great - at least I think so. I think they'll look great on the machine.

Re: Completed My 3D Printed PLA SO3 Drag Chain Brackets

Let me know what 3D program you use and I can see if SolidWorks will save the brackets in that format so you can modify them. If you'd like.

Re: Makercam has a mind of its own!!

Looking into it more, I think MakerCam uses the clockwise/counterclockwise direction of the curve to determine whether it's an inside edge or an outside edge. It's possible that whatever vector app you used to save your SVG made that S in the opposite direction from the others. You know, now that y...

Re: Completed My 3D Printed PLA SO3 Drag Chain Brackets

Thanks. Take a look at whether my brackets and your limit switches can live together, and if not, take some pics and I'll see about re-designing the brackets to make them work together. I plan on adding limit switches to my SO eventually, so I might as well get them to play nicely.

Re: Offset from MakerCAM follow path...

That sounds like the "Profile" function. If it is a closed loop, you just specify whether you want the profile to be on the inner or outer side. Unless you are trying to cut a line, in which the profile function will not work.

Completed My 3D Printed PLA SO3 Drag Chain Brackets

Here are the pics of the final version of the brackets that were printed individually and installed on my SO3. Here are the pics of the four brackets that were printed all at once. Here are SolidWorks renders of the four brackets. NEW EDIT as of 02OCT15: Here are the STL, IGS, STEP 203 and 3DXML fi...
