Re: Is Anyone Interested in Drag Chain Brackets?

Well, I finished the third of four brackets and mounted it, and 3D printing issues aside, it looks good and functions very well. It holds the drag chain at the rear of the stepper motors and is supported by the last ~1/4" of the aluminum extrusion. I plan on putting the stepper motor wires through t...

Re: Ferrite beads/rings - No love

It might be a bit expensive, but maybe having the controller hooked up to a UPS might mitigate this issue. Maybe you know someone who has one that you could borrow for a bit to test?

Re: Is Anyone Interested in Drag Chain Brackets?

I am planning on uploading them once I have both sets finished ( I only have one set complete now) and they have been working properly for a while before I upload them. I don't want to upload something that turns out to not work well. I already have to modify them because right now I am using the li...

Re: Is Anyone Interested in Drag Chain Brackets?

Okay, here are some pics of the two brackets I have installed. Also, there is a pic of where I plan on having the drag chain that is installed on the gantry. I am going camping so I will be out of the loop for a bit, but I'll be back in a few days.

Is Anyone Interested in Drag Chain Brackets Edit: for SO3?

I designed and 3D printed myself some brackets for the 15x30mm drag chain sold by inventables. I can post some pics tomorrow if anyone is interested. I had to trim the moulded rubber from the ferrite bead on the stepper motor power cable, but a little bit of heat shrink will make it all better. So f...

Re: Which bit to drill into smartphone screen?

I purchased some downcut drill bits for drilling through some flex-circuits (4 layers of copper and 5 layers of Kapton) from Drillbitcity and they worked great - PROVIDED: You place a sacrificial piece of material approximately the same hardness on top and drill through it and into your phone. That ...

Re: Job stops before complete

. . . The router was on a different AC circuit from the computer and the controller. . . Bob So, I had an issue with my SO3 in that whenever I turned on my ShopVac, the SO3 would immediately stop. I switched to another circuit, but it still tripped. What I had to do was switch to the other hot leg ...

Re: The "h" in THE is giving me H*** !!

You had a bunch of loops in the "h". I cleaned them up and tried to retain the shape as best I could. I was able to make a pocket in makercam after I fixed it.

Re: Tool to assemble/concatenate.stl files?

I could try it in SolidWorks. I know I can open .stl files in SolidWorks, so I don't see why I could not create an assembly of the three and then save it.

I mean, the worst that can happen is it doesn't work.

Re: Chanfers? The quest for the finished edge.

I have also been wondering this myself, as I am interested in putting either a chamfer or fillet on some of the parts I cut out. I was thinking of using carbide router bits and making some test cuts to determine what settings would be best. For instance, clamp down a piece of 1/2"-3/4" scrap wood an...
