Re: Bit Life: How long should a cutting bit last

I recommend drillman1 on eBay for good, reasonably-priced endmills. They come from the US, but shipping is not expensive. I second that. I have bought just over $300 worth of bits in sizes from 0.031" to .25" in the last three months, from 1 flute to 4 flute carbide bits. His prices are pretty much...

Re: A suddenly requested poll — internet in the shop

I do my design in the house using a desktop, then save all the files on my FreeNAS server. Then go out to my shed and use my Win7 laptop to run the Carbide Motion to control my SO3. I can grab any file I have ever made on any of my computers in the house and use it since all my computers have access...

Re: Treatments for the Wasteboard?

After the work I am doing to my wasteboard, I think I sill definitely seal it from the lovely Western Washington humidity. Here is half of my new 3/4" MDF wasteboard. I only planned on using 100 threaded inserts, but I got carried away a bit, and am going to end up using 210. Whoops. I only n...

Re: Wishlist: Carbide Motion Machine Control Software (other

After I hit pause, I'd like the ability to re-send the last few commands. I have been making some detailed carvings in 1/2" clear cast acrylic sheet with an 0.031" bit, and when the bit breaks for whatever reason, I'd like to be able to re-send the last few commands instead of having to guess where ...

Re: A suddenly requested poll — internet in the shop

I'll do my designing in the house then drop the completed work on my FreeNAS and go out to my shop and grab the file and drag it to my laptop and send it to my Shapeoko.

Solidworks 2015. I have used CATIA at work for the last 9 years, but I just started using Solidworks a couple of months ago.

Re: [SO3] What's the First First-Party Upgrade You Want

Let's see; I have never owned a CNC, but from reading all the posts, I think I will start "small" and work my way up. Well, I ordered the SuperPID controller, so when that arrives that goes on the router, but not sure if that counts. Some form of cable management, whether drag chain or just spiral w...
