Re: Depth Rings / Distance Rings

I wanted some too so I made some for my 1/8" and 1/4" end mills out of brass (lathe and mill). I was pretty impressed with myself until I found pretty much the same ones in steel at my local Ace Hardware, a 1/4 mile down the road. Doh! They are precise and fit my bits rather snuggly. I think they ar...

Re: Making Letters in Aluminum

I've never tried a tapered ball end mill for my engraving work. Here's one I did in stainless steel a few weeks ago. I used a 1/8" ball end mill and went down about .005". Took my daughter's fingernail polish and painted over the text and sand off after dry. Anyway, I used V-Carve to do the text whi...

Personally, I bet I've told people countless times on countless forums that Fusion 360 is free for hobbyists. Still, people question it. IT'S FREE!

Re: First Cut and VCarve Desktop

Problem is not V-Carve. It's your step settings on your Carbide board. I believe you need to set them to 1/4 instead of 1/8. I had the same problem.

Update: Oh, sorry. Will beat me to it.

Re: Finished my Shapeoko 3 build..but now what???

Patience. Don't expect to be an expert over night. You have a new and expensive hobby now. My advice would be to avoid MeshCam. If you want to spend money on software then buy Vectric V-Carve Desktop. It makes more sense. I bought both and never touch MeshCam. When I'm not using V-Carve for my easie...

Delrin Plate on S03

First time cutting Delrin plate. 15krpm at 40ips feed rate with an 1/8" carbide flat end mill. All cuts are nice and crisp. Love cutting this stuff so far.

Re: UGS & tool changes

Why not just break it up into two different gcode for roughing and one for finishing.

Re: Carbide WCS and homing issue

I had similiar issues at first. After finding GrblPanel (instead of Carbide Motion) my problems went away. I think it's much easier to do tool changes with it and set up WCS.

Everytime I mention GrblPanel, WillAdams beats me to it with bCNC. :)
