Re: mach3

When I set up my switches I watched the YouTube tutorials and they helped me a lot. It's been a while now and I don't remember what all I had to do to get the thing set up properly but take a look at those videos if you haven't yet and I bet it helps you out.

Re: Expansion packs announced

I just ordered mine. I was at first unhappy with the crazy shipping cost- when I went to pull the trigger there were now 4 options and one was FedEx 4 day at around $45! So much better! I ended up getting the XXL set even though I won't need to extend both axis. I figure there will be enough extrusi...

Re: Expansion packs announced

$500 hurts a little. $78 shipping hurts a lot. That's the best we can do? That's what It cost to ship my entire machine

I'm really getting close to regretting the machine and I haven't even built it yet.

Re: Gecko placement for a S03, opinions welcome!

Very good, I think I'm sold on continuing the route I started of a stationary controller.

That said, are there any points of I nterference with any of the stepper wires, router power wire, and the pid signal wires? I'd like to keep them all in a single chain like on my cheap 4030 machine

Thanks Jim, that's a great point. Im familiar with the 6' or less preference on the cable but hadn't considered that shorter is probably even better.

Gecko placement for a S03, opinions welcome!

I had already started gathering my dream machine- I have the S03 and also bought a G540, power supplies, limit switch kit, and a SuperPid as well as the router. I have an enclosure I had planned to put it all in, nice and tidy. Then I started adding up all the wires that would need to go from the co...

Awesome, that's my goal too- make sure the machine is perfect then just calibrate bits.

Re: twforeman's Shapeoko 3 #0004 Upgrades - Long

Silly question but from my time spent on another machine I am curious.... Every time I install a fresh bit (I use 3/32 end mills more or less) I have to cut a hole, measure it, and adjust my bit diameter in Cut2d. I store that as my current bit and whenever I change bits I have to re calibrate. When...

Re: Shapeoko 3 startup noise

I'm pretty sure you shouldn't power the board with the steppers disconnected. I'd wait for a knowledgable reply before trying it just to be safe. My cheapie Chinese drivers say it will fry them with no stepper attached
