I think you'll be hard pressed to find a 1/8" bit that's long enough for the job at hand. Good point, but it looks like OP isn't doing the sides. I don't know what cutting force to aim for with the new machine (JeromyReno's example only gives .02 lbs cutting force if those step numbers are in mm, I...

I have used my S3 on 6061 aluminum and it cuts threw it with ease. I would recommend a coolant spray of some sort or using a cutting oil to keep the aluminum from sticking to the end mill. I was trying to find my max I could push it and man could I really push it before getting chatter or chip weld....

does anyone have a link to where I can download carbide motion, or it's drivers. I tried to sign up for the carbide3D forum but the verification email I was sent doesn't work with my email and I assume that is where im supposed to get it.
