Re: Problems milling aluminum 6061
Some endmills seem to get chipweld nomatter what. It depends on their coating abd composition. I have some cheap chinese end mills that will not cut aluminum without it gallingbup the flutes. I can switch to another brand and cut with no problem. It csn be cut dry, but I do recommend a lubricant. I ...

Re: Confused about the G54 command for resetting home positi
After I home device to x= -5, y= -5 and z= -5, I then jog the mill bit to where I want my new zero starting point on my workpiece. Lets say it is now at, -200,-250,-10. Then I would rezero and start work. I would write these numbers down and if I have to go over the piece again after changing the b...

Re: Driving a laser
Thanks for the reply. I was hoping you would chine in. I knew about D13 and I could fees that signal directly to the gate, but I figured I would rather control it manually. On another topic....on the CAM side I havent looked at many options (i will have to check the wiki), but I figured I could just...

Re: Will grbl run a beefier machine okay?
Someone has ported 0.8 versions (i think) to the mega. I think the persons handle is Letarte, but I could be wrong. I know that I have installed grbl onto a 2560 and tested it using his work. With that said, I am not sure if he is keeping it up to date and it sounds like he doesnt have a need to if ...

Driving a laser
It has been a long while since I have designed any circuits. I am looking to drive a laser with the spindle enable pin from grbl and a CNC shield. I am looking at maybe using one of those 300ish mW TO18 package lasers. They seem to usually work on 2ish volts. In the interest of simplicity versus eff...

Transposing and rotating G Code
I often have the need to rotate G code in order to fit a random part in what I have left of a piece of stock. This is not planned in advance, or else I would nest it prior to my CAM work. Is there anything out there that reliably rotates an existing G Code file. I would be fine with a simple transpo...

True. I was also going by the 90 cents per endmill price. Lol.
