Re: Power supply, wiring

It wouldn't surprise me if pin 3 & 4 were for 24 Volt Sense and Sense Ground. For long runs from the Power Supply (PS) to the load, there is a voltage drop over the wire. The sense does not carry any current, but allows the PS to increase its output voltage slightly. So the voltage at the load is th...

Re: AtomCNC - waits

Based on a little bit of "Google" research on IndieGoGo there were 2 complaints with the BBB, and one posting about late funds by this RPG developer guy in Sept of 2011 http://forum.rpg.net/showthread.php?591751-IndieGoGo-Something-To-Be-Aware-of Looks like if you need the funds Immediately , IndieG...

Re: Y and Z steppers stalling

Ahhh, you did move the polou driver chip board around I presume? Is the GRBL version correct for the Rev3 Buildlog Arduino 4-Axis Stepper Shield? The wiki seems to indicate GRBL v7d & v8e are for the Rev1 & Rev2 Buildlog Arduino 4-Axis Stepper Shield. Note: I have a Rev2 buildlog shield with GRBL8a ...

Re: How long can the rails be

I believe Edward built a 33" x 33" machine using existing makerslide. http://www.shapeoko.com/wiki/index.php/Scaling_Up I Think you can go larger than that by mounting the 20x40 mm makerslide to a piece of 20x80 mm Misumi extrusion. Example: Bart Dring is building a plasma cutter, he is stiffening t...

@jsbannis » Thats a 3 Pin AMP connector ... (Not MOLEX, although they may make something comparable). I'll see If I can find the AMP part number for the Male Connector mate with female pins you need ... Strangely several of the Google images I matched it to connected to hot tub/spa web pages. Edit: ...

Re: Pulley Problems

If you have access to a bench vise you could clamp the pulley and then use a metal punch 1/4" (6.35mm) if that's a NEMA 23 and gently hammer it out. I would avoid pulling too hard as you could mess up the bearings ... Possibly rotate the vise so the motor falls on the bench top? I suppose you could ...

Re: ShapeOko #396

The makerslide store order came in, I ordered some Aluminum Spacers; 5.1mm ID, 8mm OD, 6.35mm Long. http://store.makerslide.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=5_10&products_id=53 Unfortunately Bart does not have any in a 3/4" length, although i did find something close on eBay (will need dri...

Re: X & Y axis belts

Hi @potatotron: I see you made that posting about using cable ties on folded over belt, as a belt anchor on » Thu Jun 21, 2012 3:51 pm, so its been in place about 5-6 weeks (or longer). A very good idea that I am planning to adapt myself. My concern and possibly @jahn's as well, is how much (if any)...

Re: ShapeOko #396

While I wait for parts orders from Inventables and MakerslideStore, I mounted 2 end stops to the Z-axis aluminum plate. These should work for the X-axis endstops. The switches are from All Electronics CAT # SMS-231 (10 Amp Snap Action Switch. I needed to drill holes in the aluminum plate as nothing ...

Re: Controller From Scratch

If AtomSoft can build a GRBL compatable 4 axis 50V@10 amp stepper driver card for ~ $100 ( or even $125) thats still less than Gecko controllers. Although I don't know about the GEKO's claims of mid band comp. If the Allegro's A4989 chip and external mosfets can be used, that price might be acchieva...
