Re: S3 stops mid-job

When mentioning that a new board was sent to you, it'd be helpful to know what version it is. There are three board revisions now (that I'm aware of, probably more though).

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I just ran a 81 minute job pocketing out a 9" square down 3/4" deep in plywood without any issue. During the cut, (no dust collection at all so dust piled up a LOT), I used the shop vac to do the work surface, top of the router, rails, virtually everything I touched with the vac nozzle and my hand a...

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I tried to cut a 9 minute job a few days ago and it couldn't finish (3" pocketed circle in plywood, 0.125 upcut bit, 0.2 plunge, 50 ipm). I successfully cut the job 7 times back-to-back (usually 30 seconds of rest to jog to a fresh area of the material). I let the dust pile up so it should've been a...

Re: Workshop computer for $15

It's still ARM. Microsoft's ARM tablet was a miserable failure due to lack of software. Any type of 3D CAD is probably going to be miserable to use on that thing. Being able to whip out a part without going inside is the reason I have a decent PC in the shop. Going inside for a 10 minute part usuall...

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I'm not sure how "hard" of a job it takes to do a disconnect if indeed that is the problem. I am cutting a circle into plywood about 13" in diamter, 1/8 bit 60ips. I did a re-zero (close but not exact) and started the cut again so the bit only was cutting about half of the time. About 4 minutes in, ...

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I'm starting to believe Murphy's Law applies.

I left it connected for the last 4 hours, jogged it occasionally with the router both on and off, same goes for jogging with a vac running -- absolutely no problems.

Mount a new piece of plywood, 1 minute into a 5 minute circle cutting job, splat.

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I was looking at the exploded diagram of the DWP611 on eReplacementParts but it didn't answer the question. Has anyone disassembled their router to see if the actual router metal body is connected to anything else inside of the unit of if it's isolated with plastic or rubber from everything else?

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I've had disconnects using the USB isolator so it's not a cure-all.

I'm grounding my machine in a few days to see how that does in addition to the isolator and a V2.1 board.

Re: S3 stops mid-job

That is a VERY interesting thing about insulating the router and it leads to me to speculate that all this time perhaps we're pointing the finger in the wrong direction. I'd love to have a way to test this out with maybe 4 other DeWalt routers or at least a different router (my only other palm route...

Re: S3 stops mid-job

Any follow-up to this, madhatter? After getting a galvanic isolator and a V2.2 board (mine was V2.1, the white one), I touched the machine machine times during cuts and jogs as well as used the shop vac without issue. I cut about 10 things yesterday but the last job I had a disconnect after turning ...
