Re: S3 stops mid-job

I just cut the same three minute job three times without a stoppage. What did happen though was when I powered off the router, I lost control of jogging via the PC. I can unplug/replug the power and USB and get it back (after closing Carbide Motion). I'm really wondering if this is an EMI issue? 24V...

Re: S3 stops mid-job

The power supply has 4 pins with an outer shield. What should each pin/shield be, 6V?

Re: S3 stops mid-job

It totally makes sense when you think about it because the USB/Serial doesn't disappear since it's powered with host power but the rest of the device comes from the external 24V. I have a UPS I'll try this with to see if it solves anything. It's unfortunate to hear because I really like the power su...

S3 stops mid-job

I've been cutting test items for nearly a week now without any problem aside from a metric/imperial switch exclusively using UGS because Carbide Motion wouldn't run on my old notebook. I changed notebooks to something modern and did several test cuts this morning without issue but not for long. I'm ...

Re: A favour --- measure the DWP611 collet wrenches?

Does this help? The OAL is approximate because my caliper only goes to about 153mm so I had to do it in two pieces.

Long USB cable

Has anyone experience using longer USB cables? Obviously USB 2.0 spec about 5 meters but there are active extenders out there that push the length up to 10-20 meters and it'd provide a bit more flexibility since I don't want to continue running my S3 from a notebook.

Re: First cut problems

I figured out the problem.....kind of annoying. The gcode I'm generating from Makercam is in Inches but UGS defaults to metric. I swap it back to inches and the machine jogs properly in inches. I set zero and can cut just fine now (minus the carpet tape failure but that's another fail altogether :) ...

Re: First cut problems

Does the belt slip on the motor pulleys when they're not tensioned enough?

I can pluck the Z belt like a guitar and it has a good amount of reverb.

First cut problems

I was able to do the S3 hello world with a marker without a problem using Universal Gcode Sender and the file in the wiki. https://instagram.com/p/5AuGNNB9sI/ I moved on to putting in the router for a simple star knob and ended up with extremely undesirable results. This was supposed to be a 3" knob...

Re: My Assembly Thoughts so far

If I ever get this thing going, I've even considered taking it completely apart and doing a detailed tutorial (video/photo/written) covering areas that are currently lacking.
