Re: Vac or planer ?

I'm not a professional woodworker by any stretch of the imagination, and I'm sure there are LOTS more people on the forum more qualified to answer this question, but here is my 2 cents: I have a delta planer, the 12" portable variety. The model is new within the last 5 or so years. It's a lot like t...

Re: Carbide Motion manual Gcode Over travel and Observations

Hi Dave, Sounds like you're getting the hang of it. For clarity, this is how I run a job: 1.) Turn the power off on your machine and make sure your spindle is off. 2.) Get your material secured to your machine at the location of your choice. 3.) With the power still off, move your machine (just drag...

Re: Carbide Motion manual Gcode Over travel and Observations

Hi Dave, A couple of things to note here 1.) Issuing G0 X50 (initially) should move your machine 50mm (units) in the positive direction, if your machine began at X=0 2.) Once you move to X=50, sending another G0 X50 command will not move your machine. Why? Because it's already at 50 :-) Remember tha...

Re: Official SO3 Hello World

CastIrony - Just added that to the 'hello world' doc: http://docs.carbide3d.com/article/37-shapeoko-3-hello-world Link to download is at the bottom. Just run the regular hello world, then load the new file and run it. Careful not to move the machine between running the first and second files. Let's ...

Re: My Assembly Thoughts so far

Hi James - thanks for the compliments, but we're working to improve the issues you're talking about 1.) I didn't know about the allen key - i'll check a few bags when I get back to the office on monday and see what the story is. Those smaller keys are usually the ones people dont have handy, so I wa...

Re: Any recommendations for a 3D Printer or 3D Printer Kit?

@Dave Durant - that's damn good advice Dave. Well said. I have two 3D printers I can speak for directly: Up Plus (a few years old) - I really like this printer and have really appreciated the fact that when I click 'print' my part prints. It has a removable table, which is handy and also has a small...

Re: Official SO3 Hello World

Thanks for the kind words. You were not wasting my time - had we not messed up the config in the first place, you wouldn't have needed to contact us :-) I'm just glad everything is working and that your machine looks to be fully operational. Enjoy the Machine and be sure to let us know when you make...

Re: Official SO3 Hello World

Just to close the loop here - The problem was Adam's board had the wrong grbl settings... If someone is experiencing the same problem - 1.) See this knowledgebase article from the docs site: http://docs.carbide3d.com/article/38-shapeoko-3-default-grbl-settings 2.) If you don't feel like doing #1, ju...
