Re: Expansion packs announced

Renderings of the XL/XXL models show adjustable feet under each corner but not listed as included with the upgrade. Are those parts included? What sort of support is under the wasteboard? From the renderings, it would appear to be more than just the flat straps found on the S3. I would think the dim...

Re: Newbie question about Autocad to Gcode

I'll second the CamBam suggestion. It's a great CAM program for 2.5D toolpath generation. Lots of support on their forum as well. I'm using Aspire and Fusion 360 for most of what I'm doing these days, but spent a lot of time with Cubify and CamBam prior to working with F360 and I'm sure will use it ...

Re: Fusion 360 dxf export

I haven't tried it, but did you turn off visibility of construction lines before exporting to DXF?

Re: Stiffness of the spindle carriage plate

NICE! I've got mine all finished up. (snip) Great surface finish and nearly eliminated the chatter I was seeing in the Y direction. Hoping to run another job cutting some motor mounts out of 1/4 6061 this weekend...and hopefully I'll have time to finish the writeup and the DXFs. Looks Great! Was ho...

Re: Stiffness of the spindle carriage plate

That looks good, wunderaa. Did you cut it out on the Shapeoko? Let us know how it works out. Fusion 360 from Autodesk is free for hobby users (<$100K annual income from use) and is a hybrid local/cloud based, full featured CAD/CAM package. It's a pretty impressive package and the price is right, at ...

Re: Sheetcam>Mach3> or Sheetcam>Gcode Sender

If you decide to go the Mach 3 or LinuxCNC route, another controller option, in addition to those listed in the Wiki would be this one from PMDX: http://www.pmdx.com/PMDX-340 Leadshine also sells a good one, but like the Gecko G540, would need a separate power supply and possibly an enclosure (depen...

Re: S3 stops mid-job

I've tried just about everything here and still disconnect somewhat frequently with the SparkFun Stepoko. What makes it worse is the lack of reply's from sparkfun support. 3 emails sent over 4 weeks with not one reply. Well that's not very encouraging. I was hoping the SparkFun controller would be ...

Re: Stiffness of the spindle carriage plate

If the drawings I'm using are accurate 1.5mm milled off the top of each Z-Axis rail would allow the use of low-profile socket head cap screws to attach the support pieces so that there would be no need to countersink flat head bolts. Rails are 20mm high and I don't think taking a little off the top ...
