Re: Vinyl Cutting Blade

I don't exactly understand the point of this, wouldn't it be way easier to just use a thin milling bit (square end, like 0.4mm cutting diameter)? Or for thin paper an engraving bit?

Probably there is a good reason not to do that, but I can't think of one...

Re: end mills?

http://lcamtuf.coredump.cx/gcnc/#2 Scroll down to 2.2 (can't link it directly). It's a really nice guide, if you have the time, read it in it's entirety. Edit: Although you need to keep in mind that some of the advice this guys gives is specific to his interests - namely small, accurate parts for wh...

Re: Inventables wiring

Edward, the wires on my y-axis motor are too short for that. I cut the wire terminal into two pieces and mounted one of them on the y-motor-plate. Edit: And the other one on the x-motor-plate, of course. That's the only possibility with the length of the motor wires. Sooner or later I'm going to sol...

Re: My shapeoko 3d printer

Another reason for multiple machines on one y axis is to work on the same object with different tools assembly line style. If i print an object in plastic i might want to do something more like adding threading for screws automatically. That would actually be extremely cool, if it worked! Wouldn't ...

Re: Alternate Z-axis

Actually I think it's better than the stock solution in every case. Good idea!

Edit: Oh, true, the x-axis pulleys really seem a little close together. I only looked at the part with the z-axis...

(IMAGINE ME SHOUTING THAT RIGHT INTO YOUR EAR AS LOUD AS I CAN. IT'S MY RIGHT TO TALK IN MY OWN STYLE AFTE...

Re: A site like Thingiverse for CNC CAD Models?

I would like to suggest rather making Thingiverse better than just starting another such website.

Re: Chat

If there is a chat, I'm for irc. A lot of irc channels are logged, that shouldn't be hard to set up, so the information wouldn't be lost like edward feared (if you put them into a public directory they would also be easy to search - for example using wget -O - http://www.shapeoko.com/logs.txt | grep...

Re: IRC Chat

I think we should have a daily or weekly meeting time. What is a good day or time for everyone to show up? from 10 pm to onwards, It will be feasible for me. I think the ShapeOko people are distributed around the globe, I bet that your 10pm is off from mine (UTC+1) by several hours. That off course...
