Re: Plastic Locker Nameplates

For starters this is my bible for speeds and feeds. There is a lot of good info here. http://www.precisebits.com/tutorials/calibrating_feeds_n_speeds.htm I use between a 2%-4% chip load per tooth to prevent melting on acrylic. "Feed = 0.02 x D x No. flutes x RPM (2% chipload per tooth)" Dewalt 611 s...

Re: Z-axis not smooth, feels notched at a point.

I had a similar issue with mine do to my initial assembly tightening The Eccentric nuts 180 degrees. DO NOT do this. I believe they need to be tightened just until the V wheel will not slip. I believe it caused a temporary flat spot in the plastic which returns to round after proper adjustment. Mine...

Re: New SO3 B.O.M. on the wiki

"S3023 GT2 pulley, 20 tooth, 6.35mm bore 4 GT2 pulley, 20 tooth, 5mm bore 1" I recieved my kit 2/18/16. The z axis pully (6.35mm bore) is 7mm wide (where the teeth are) while the y axis pulleys are 9.5mm wide (where the teeth are). This caused confusion while assemblying. I assume this is because th...

Parts shipped not on BOM

My kit shipped with regular (edit: m3 nuts), there were no nyloc nuts in the kit. The problem is the directions describe the nuts should not spin when tightening up the motors however they do because they're smaller. You cannot fit a wrench either so i used a flat head screw driver wedged. Anyone el...

Re: Wiring a garage for Shapeoko 3

You're probably all set up by now so this comes too late, but I would love an outlet in the ceiling to plug the router into. Exactly what I was thinking: 20 amp circuit with 4 outlets on the left wall 20 amp circuit with 4 outlets on the right wall 20 amp circuit with 4 outlets running across the c...

Re: CNC Piranha Fx

When I started looking at CNC routers this was the first product that I considered purchasing until I found the shapeoko 3. Everyone told me to buy my second machine first. The main complaints I found online were extremely limited work surface, HDPE structural components, and gantry flex. Coupled wi...
