Re: Finally... 4th axis

Very nice custom axis. Any reason you chose this course rather than some Chinese offering on eBay? Because I like building things :) If I need to design a precise tool path, I'll calculate that elsewhere Did you already need on precise toolpath ? Here is the result with Deskproto 6 http://www.shape...

It looks awesome. A little bit expensive, but awesome :)

Re: question

Hello, Actually the 2 point is not that unlikely. If using, for instance, a 3mm endmill in a 3.175mm collet, it can happen. mixing 3mm and 3.175mm endmill happens fast, and sometimes you don't notice it while fastening. And it already happened to me with the stock spindle. First thing is to make sur...

Re: Pocketing with different tools

@PsyKo - I tried that but on square corners the offset is still square. In the interest of minimizing air-milling or overshooting a corner, I opted to use the tool path instead. When there is a larger difference in size of the two mills, tool path would save milling time, your method is obviously e...

Re: Pocketing with different tools

You can also do the inside geometry (the one you're doing with the toolpath to geometry) with an offset operation with negative value. It should be faster than doing it with the generated toolpath.

CNC Controller software - Looking for beta-testers

Hello, For a few months now, I've been working a a desktop software to control TinyG and execute GCode files. I'm now looking for beta testers to try and improve it. I'm regularly testing it, but with my own workflow. I'd like to confront it to other people with different automatism. Software featur...

Read my previous post again. It contains the answer.

Re: A little journey in 4 axis milling.

It was a trial version of Deskproto 6.
Does anyone have any ideas about the algorithm involved in 4 axis toolpath generation ?
It might be interesting to try and develop such a software.

Re: A little journey in 4 axis milling.

Just for information, the finishing pass with a tool of 1.5mm is about 450k lines :)

Don't remember exactly, but it was ~4h of pure milling, including roughing, 1st and 2nd finishing passes.
