Re: Another limit switch thread

Awesome, thanks for the detailed explanation. I guess my first impulse was right, and I tried to overthink it with the diagram on the right. But either way, I certainly understand what's going on a lot more after reading your explanation. Looking forward to wiring it all up.

Another limit switch thread

I'm having trouble working out the wiring for my limit/homing switches. I've read through other threads on similar topics, but without much of an understanding of electronics, I'm drawing a blank as to how it applies to the switches that I have. What I've got are six optical switches and breakout bo...

Re: 3D CAD Tool

I use either Sketchup or Blender. Typically Sketchup if I'm working with flat surfaces, or Blender if I'm working with more curved, organic shapes. I'd like to use just one tool, but both tools have significant weaknesses when it comes to certain types of work. I also really liked my first impressio...

Re: My second shapeoko iteration

My driveshaft style is quite similar to this one here: http://www.shapeoko.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=26&p=6906&hilit=shaft#p6906 Except my coupling was longer (about 5cm), so I had to put it on the outside, which isn't ideal, because it moves the motor further away from the plate, which I think ...

My second shapeoko iteration

After making a pretty by-the-book shapeoko for the first time around, I decided I was ready for some upgrades over the last couple months. I'm still midway through all the changes I want to make, but here's a couple photos of where I'm at right now. I was feeling really claustrophobic with the dimen...

Re: Software Searce

EDIT: I should mention first of all that your approach: just resizing in illustrator and then resizing it after you're done working with it should work fine, and I've used that method at times as well. Definitely use that method if it works for you. However, if you want to keep working with a correc...

Re: Software Searce

I'd be happy to offer some suggestions if you provide a little more detail about how it's not opening. Are you getting an error message? Does it appear to open but then you see no objects in your view? If it's the latter, it's possible that you've imported an object, but it's microscopically small. ...

Re: Software Searce

Definitely it's possible in Blender, although the learning curve for Blender is pretty steep. If I understand you correctly, i've gotten a result like what you're after by using the following steps: import your svg convert it to a mesh use subsurface mesh to create a smoother mesh extrude it a littl...

Re: Universal G-Code Sender v1.0.5 released!

I've encountered the same thing, on pretty-much the exact same setup as yours (MacBook Pro, Mountain Lion, GRBL 8c).
