Re: STL File Modification

You should be able to use FreeCAD http://www.freecadweb.org/ to modify STL files: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avVNfIswkMU

Re: designing gears software

http://woodgears.ca/gear_cutting/template.html is a flash web page and could also be used, without payment.

Re: My first "real" project

Very nice both design and finish.. :)
This must have taken some time to mill out - and 10 times too?

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

I think that's the wrong profile. It is 1 x 2 unit of a 40 mm-based profile (like Misumi HFS8-4080), and you actually need a 2 x 4 unit of a 20 mm-based profile (like Misumi HFS5-4080). I'm pretty sure Bosch-Rexroth don't make the one you want (their 20 mm-based range is small). Thank you for looki...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Regarding the profiles: I did contact <salg.support@boschrexroth.no> and they do indeed have something in Norway, but I am not sure if these will do? There was something about 6mm holes in the middle not right, should be 5mm ? Cuts; 3842993130 STRUT PROFILE 40X80L, L= 1000 mm NOK 235,90 ~ 34.8648405...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Z-axis look breathtaking.. :)

This may have been covered earlier in the thread and I was just not able to follow, but would there not be a need to adjust the wheelbase like on the SO/makerslide? Everything is machined, so it always fits? :)
Could wear and tear make adjustments necessary?

Re: Aluminium engraving - front panel

Very nice result.
But if you have to paint it anyway, is it any point in using the sandwich panel instead of solid aluminium?
Is it cheaper?

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

The only issue with that would be shipping cost. Shipping the entire kit in one large box from here to Norway using UPS or FedEx would cost around $750 mainly due to the long 1500mm extrusions. Even shipping the extrusions separately in a smaller box would still cost about $500. It would be...

Re: Project Shapeoko HD

Have you considered foreign beta testers? Non-english speakers writing docs might not be very effective, perhaps? :-P
Do you have an idea about what shipping would come to sending all this to Norway?

Re: Going to try CamBam -Are ther anySVG to DXF converters?

If you are going to drop $150 on CAM software, get CamBam. Cut2D is ok, but it's like comparing a roller skate and a monster truck. For my needs, Cut2D has been great - so far. The built in simulator has saved me from many mistakes. It is kind of simple (but then again easy to use) and it is annoyi...
